🦉💻 CYBER OWL SATURDAY — OUR FLOCK IS GROWING! 💻🦉
What an AMAZING Cyber Owl Saturday!

Let’s start with the BIG news — our little flock isn’t so little anymore!

Yesterday, we welcomed TWO potential new Cyber Owls to practice! If they decide to stay with us, the Hondo Cyber Owls will grow to 13 team members — the largest team we have had since Mrs. Krueger and I started the Hondo Cyber Owls eight years ago!

Right now, we have 5 high school Cyber Owls and 7 middle school Cyber Owls, with hopefully two more getting ready to join the flock.
At this rate, we’re going to need a bigger nest! 😂🦉

So, what were all those Cyber Owls doing?
💻 LEARN IT. TRY IT. BREAK IT. FIX IT. REPEAT.

This week, our team received access to a training platform designed to teach the fundamentals of the three major areas of CyberPatriot competition, along with additional topics to help prepare them for the challenges ahead.

But I didn’t want them just reading about cybersecurity.

As they learned new commands, tools, and concepts, they immediately put that knowledge to work on our CyberPatriot training images.

Learn a command ➡️ Try it ➡️ See what happens ➡️ Figure out WHY it happened ➡️ Write it down ➡️ Try something else!

For our seasoned Cyber Owls, it was a chance to reinforce what they already know, sharpen their skills, and help teach their teammates. For our newest members, it was their introduction to CyberPatriot and the much larger world of cybersecurity and Information Technology.

Throughout the room, Cyber Owls were asking questions, trying commands, solving problems, and helping one another. Coach Hall was bouncing between computers like a Cyber Viking trying to keep the digital longship afloat, Dr. Sparkles was working her mentoring magic, Firewire was helping our newer members, and our guest got a front-row seat to what Cyber Owl Saturday is all about — learning, teamwork, and having some fun along the way! 😂🦉💻

Seeing our Cyber Owls learning together, helping one another, and welcoming new members into the flock makes me excited about where this team is headed.

We’re growing, we’re learning, and apparently, the flock isn’t finished growing yet! 🦉💻
Another fantastic Cyber Owl Saturday in the books!

Keep learning. Keep asking questions. Keep helping your teammates. Keep defending the digital realm.

🦉⚔️💻 CYBER OWL SATURDAY IS TOMORROW! 💻⚔️🦉

Cyber Owls, get ready! Tomorrow morning we’re back at the Hondo Public Library for another Cyber Owl Saturday!

📍 Hondo Public Library
⏰ 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
📅 Tomorrow — Saturday

Bring your notes, your questions, and your Cyber Owl attitude! We’ll be back on the computers learning, troubleshooting, practicing, and working together as a team.

Remember—practice is where we make mistakes, ask questions, break things, figure out WHY we broke them…and hopefully learn how to fix them before Coach Hall notices! 😂💻

Every Saturday is another chance to learn something new and make the entire team stronger.

🚨 WE’RE STILL RECRUITING! 🚨

Know a student who loves computers, gaming, technology, puzzles, or figuring out how things work? Send them our way!

🎓 Grades 6–12
💰 FREE to join
💻 NO experience required
🌎 Students from Hondo and surrounding communities are welcome!

Parents, bring your student by and let them experience Cyber Owl Saturday. Students, bring a friend and come see what cybersecurity and CyberPatriot are all about!

You don’t have to know cyber to become a Cyber Owl.

You just have to be willing to LEARN. 🦉💻
