💜 HOMINY BUCKS WEEKLY UPDATE 💜

Great things are happening at Hominy Public Schools!

✅ Accreditation & Finances
We successfully completed our fall accreditation review for the Oklahoma State Department of Education and our first audit of the school year with positive results! Auditors complimented the quality and organization of our bookkeeping. Thank you to our administrators and staff for their work!

Through our shared superintendent program with Wynona, we received the first of four $16,000 payments from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. These payments total $64,000 and provide additional financial support to our school through this program.

📚 Learning & Attendance
Preliminary academic indicators show improvement across all school sites. We have more work ahead, but we are encouraged by our progress! Attendance is also higher than this time last year. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for making attendance and learning a priority.

Our after-school Bucks Club Tutoring program is running smoothly, with around 60 students attending for extra academic help and other activities!

🚌 Student & Staff Safety
Our Safe Route app is live on every route bus! Drivers check students in when they board and out when they exit, helping us track riders as they travel to and from school. This supports our drivers and adds another layer of accountability to our transportation procedures.

Our new high school video camera system is also installed and operating. Both systems were purchased through our annual security grant to support student and staff safety.

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Rebekah Warnke
Mrs. Warnke has served Hominy Public Schools for 16 years and consistently goes above and beyond for our students! Along with her daily responsibilities, she drives an afternoon bus route and volunteers to drive for school field trips.

Her willingness to give extra time and lend a hand helps our students get home safely and enjoy learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Thank you, Mrs. Warnke, for your dedication and 16 years of service to our Bucks family!

Here’s this week’s Hominy Public Schools update: Please Like and Share All The Positive Things Happening At Hominy Public Schools!💜

📚 Parent-Teacher Conferences: October 13th, 3:15–6:15 p.m., and October 14th, 8:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. Contact your student’s school building for more information.

🍎 Elementary has its first snack cart and Student of the Month assembly today. We’ll recognize our Facts Master winners and Students of the Month!

📊 Junior high and high school have finished NWEA testing. Staff will review the results to help students continue improving. In the next couple of weeks, our sophomores will visit Central Tech to explore its programs.

📅 Attendance is up compared with this time last year! Thank you, families, for making attendance a priority. Students have the best opportunity to learn when they’re in class.

🛴 Congratulations to Nate Reed, who won an electric scooter as the grand prize at Indian Electric Co-Op Competition Day!

✅ We completed the first of three audits scheduled for this year and received positive feedback. Hominy remains in good financial shape despite the changing state and federal funding climate.

💜 Caring for our Buck family: Mrs. Funkhouser is representing Hominy in the Crisis Recovery Network, which helps schools support students, staff and families during and after a tragedy. Her involvement will also bring additional training opportunities to our school. We’re proud of her work to help us care for one another.

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Coach Hunter Woods oversees maintenance, helps with transportation, coaches football and baseball, and keeps our grounds and athletic fields ready to go. He’s always willing to step in wherever needed. Thank you, Coach Woods!

🏈 Bucks Football travels to Quapaw tonight for our first district contest. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Go Bucks!

🥎 Our Lady Bucks finished their softball season yesterday in the district tournament. It wasn’t the outcome we hoped for, but we’re proud of our players and coaches and grateful for the way they represented Hominy all season!

Today, at 10:00am, we will conduct a security drill involving the entire district and the RAVE Panic Button system.

The drill will simulate a report of an escaped prisoner being seen on district property. We will follow all safety procedures and instructions as though this were an actual emergency.

A ParentSquare message will be sent to families before the drill to make it clear that this is only a drill. Please do not share the specific scenario with students ahead of time.

Thank you for helping us practice our emergency procedures and keep our students and staff safe.

💜 HOMINY PUBLIC SCHOOLS — WEEK 4 UPDATE

We have officially completed our fourth full week of school, and our students and staff are settling into their routines and off to a great start!

Enrollment remains steady at 486 students K–12. Our after-school tutoring program is now underway Monday–Thursday from 3:15–5:00 PM for Pre-K through 5th grade, the Book Fair is in town at the elementary, and our JH students are finishing their beginning-of-the-year NWEA testing. Our high school is off to a strong start as well!

🏈🥎 Our Bucks football team travels to Pawhuska tomorrow night for a big non-district matchup. Our softball team continues to push toward the playoffs, while our JH football and softball teams have recently picked up big wins over Mounds and Pawhuska.

Next week is HOMECOMING WEEK! Building principals will share dress-up days with students as we show our school spirit throughout the district.

This week, we would also like to recognize Mary Martin for the tremendous amount of time and effort she gives to Hominy Public Schools. Whether it is athletic pictures, school pictures, action shots, or photos for our social media, Ms. Martin is always there capturing the moments that make our school special. She rarely misses an activity, and we appreciate all she does to help tell the story of our students, staff, and school community. Thank you, Ms. Martin!

We are thankful for our outstanding staff who continue to pour into our students every day. As we move through the year, we hope everyone continues to support one another, show kindness, and remember that we all share the same purpose — helping our students learn, grow, and succeed.

📣 Weekly District Update

Our elementary students continued building strong routines and procedures during the second full week of school. At the junior high and high school, students and staff are adjusting well to the new schedule and lunch procedures. Cafeteria participation continues to grow, and students are enjoying a hot meal and fresh salad bar each day.

Student safety remains one of our highest priorities. The new Safe Route bus app has been installed on all route buses, allowing us to track riders and help ensure they arrive safely at school and return home each day. We are now awaiting the arrival of our mobile hotspots, which will complete the system.

It was also a great week for our activities! Our fast-pitch softball team won the Prague Tournament, and the Bucks football team opened the season with a 32–8 victory over Cleveland—their sixth consecutive win in the annual Arkansas River Rivalry game! Our band and cheerleaders are also working hard to keep school spirit alive and well.

We have several ice cream incentives planned for students in every grade. Students will have opportunities to earn these rewards through strong attendance, reading books, and other achievements designed to motivate them to make the most of their educational opportunities.

We would also like to recognize the entire staff at Hominy Public Schools for putting kids first every single day. They are a special collection of individuals who share the same goals and love for our students. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment make a lasting difference in the lives of our children.

It is a great time to be a Buck! 💜

🏟️ 2026–2027 HOME ATHLETIC EVENT TICKET PRICES

Hominy Public Schools would like to announce ticket prices for all home sporting events for the 2026–2027 school year.

Adult Admission: $7
Student Admission: $6

(Season passes can be purchased at the Administration Office for a discounted price)

These prices are consistent with admission rates being charged by schools of similar size in our area and across the state.

The increase in ticket prices will help offset the rising costs associated with hosting athletic events, including game officials, event workers, security, utilities, facility operations, and other game-day expenses.

We appreciate the continued support of our students, coaches, and athletic programs and look forward to another great year of Hominy athletics!

🏈 Our first home game is this Thursday night at 7:00 PM as the Bucks take on Cleveland!

Before kickoff, we will also proudly recognize and honor the 2016 Class A Hominy Bucks State Championship Football Team. We are excited to welcome members of that championship team back and celebrate an important part of Hominy football history.🏆💍

Newsletter Update💜

We are excited to share that we have had a strong and successful first week of school. Our faculty and staff have gone above and beyond to support students through high temperatures, an extended school day, and the implementation of new procedures. Their flexibility, teamwork, and dedication have set a positive tone for the year ahead.

A key focus this week has been the new JH/HS lunch procedure. We recognize that changes of this size require thoughtful planning and adjustment, and we sincerely appreciate the cooperation and teamwork of all staff involved in making this transition a success.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Coach Green, Coach Christian, Coach B. Miller, Coach V. Miller, Coach G, Coach Woods, Coach Asher, and Coach Sumner for their daily support with the safe loading, transportation, supervision, and return of our JH and HS students.

We also want to recognize our outstanding cafeteria staff for their hard work and dedication. They have done an excellent job serving additional students while maintaining efficient, organized, and high-quality meal service. Their efforts have been essential to the success of this transition.

For clarity, JH and HS students are supervised throughout the entire lunch process. Students receive a hot, quality meal that includes a fresh salad bar, with adequate time to eat before returning to campus. Upon return, students also have supervised time to visit with peers before afternoon classes.

We will continue to closely monitor transportation capacity, student safety, meal service timing, supervision, and overall efficiency. Adjustments will be made as needed to ensure the process continues to best serve our students.

Academically, we are excited about what lies ahead as well. Our after-school tutoring program will begin after Labor Day, providing additional opportunities for students who need extra academic support. We have also been implementing new instructional and academic software that will give our teachers additional tools and data to identify student needs, provide targeted instruction, and continue our efforts to improve student achievement and test scores. We are committed to continually looking for ways to give our students and teachers the resources they need to be successful.

Beyond the classroom, there is much to celebrate:

• Lady Bucks Softball is in full swing, with both JH and HS teams competing over the past two weeks. We encourage our community to come out and support the Lady Bucks at upcoming games.

• Our JH/HS Band and Cheer Teams, under the direction of Mr. Crabaugh and Coach Akin, has been preparing for over a month and is ready to bring school spirit and energy to Friday Night Lights!

• Bucks Football returns next Thursday at home against Rival Cleveland at 7:00 PM.

• The Annual Bonfire will be held next Wednesday night at dark on the football practice field.

• Reminder: There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, August 28.

We sincerely appreciate our faculty, staff, coaches, cafeteria team, bus drivers, students, families, and community members for their continued support and partnership. We are proud of our strong start and look forward to a great year ahead.

The Hominy School Board and Administration had the opportunity to attend the Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA) Annual Conference this past weekend.

The conference provided a valuable opportunity to learn about new legislation, effective school management practices, school finance, governance, and other important issues facing Oklahoma public schools. Continuing to learn and stay informed helps our leadership team make sound decisions and better serve the students, staff, and community of Hominy Public Schools.

Those in attendance included School Board Members Jim Kunard, Fi Davis, Darrell Brown, Fonda Reed, and Fanci Tucker; Superintendent Cory Campbell; Business Manager Sara Hensley; and Treasurer Gayla Crenshaw.

We appreciate their commitment to continued professional growth, strong leadership, and the continued success of Hominy Public Schools!
