Newsletter Update💜

We are excited to share that we have had a strong and successful first week of school. Our faculty and staff have gone above and beyond to support students through high temperatures, an extended school day, and the implementation of new procedures. Their flexibility, teamwork, and dedication have set a positive tone for the year ahead.

A key focus this week has been the new JH/HS lunch procedure. We recognize that changes of this size require thoughtful planning and adjustment, and we sincerely appreciate the cooperation and teamwork of all staff involved in making this transition a success.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Coach Green, Coach Christian, Coach B. Miller, Coach V. Miller, Coach G, Coach Woods, Coach Asher, and Coach Sumner for their daily support with the safe loading, transportation, supervision, and return of our JH and HS students.

We also want to recognize our outstanding cafeteria staff for their hard work and dedication. They have done an excellent job serving additional students while maintaining efficient, organized, and high-quality meal service. Their efforts have been essential to the success of this transition.

For clarity, JH and HS students are supervised throughout the entire lunch process. Students receive a hot, quality meal that includes a fresh salad bar, with adequate time to eat before returning to campus. Upon return, students also have supervised time to visit with peers before afternoon classes.

We will continue to closely monitor transportation capacity, student safety, meal service timing, supervision, and overall efficiency. Adjustments will be made as needed to ensure the process continues to best serve our students.

Academically, we are excited about what lies ahead as well. Our after-school tutoring program will begin after Labor Day, providing additional opportunities for students who need extra academic support. We have also been implementing new instructional and academic software that will give our teachers additional tools and data to identify student needs, provide targeted instruction, and continue our efforts to improve student achievement and test scores. We are committed to continually looking for ways to give our students and teachers the resources they need to be successful.

Beyond the classroom, there is much to celebrate:

• Lady Bucks Softball is in full swing, with both JH and HS teams competing over the past two weeks. We encourage our community to come out and support the Lady Bucks at upcoming games.

• Our JH/HS Band and Cheer Teams, under the direction of Mr. Crabaugh and Coach Akin, has been preparing for over a month and is ready to bring school spirit and energy to Friday Night Lights!

• Bucks Football returns next Thursday at home against Rival Cleveland at 7:00 PM.

• The Annual Bonfire will be held next Wednesday night at dark on the football practice field.

• Reminder: There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, August 28.

We sincerely appreciate our faculty, staff, coaches, cafeteria team, bus drivers, students, families, and community members for their continued support and partnership. We are proud of our strong start and look forward to a great year ahead.

The Hominy School Board and Administration had the opportunity to attend the Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA) Annual Conference this past weekend.

The conference provided a valuable opportunity to learn about new legislation, effective school management practices, school finance, governance, and other important issues facing Oklahoma public schools. Continuing to learn and stay informed helps our leadership team make sound decisions and better serve the students, staff, and community of Hominy Public Schools.

Those in attendance included School Board Members Jim Kunard, Fi Davis, Darrell Brown, Fonda Reed, and Fanci Tucker; Superintendent Cory Campbell; Business Manager Sara Hensley; and Treasurer Gayla Crenshaw.

We appreciate their commitment to continued professional growth, strong leadership, and the continued success of Hominy Public Schools!

We had a fantastic first day of school yesterday, and we are so excited to have our students back on campus for another great school year!

We also want families to know that our After-School Tutoring Program will begin after Labor Day. Additional information regarding dates, times, eligibility, and program details will be released soon.

Thank you to our students, staff, families, and community for helping us get the school year off to such a positive start. We are looking forward to a successful year of learning, growth, and opportunities for our students!💜

Tonight, our classrooms are quiet.
The hallways are empty.

But behind those empty doors is a team that has been learning, training, preparing, planning, and working to make sure we are ready for the most important people in our district — our students.

Tomorrow, everything changes.

The buses will roll.
The parking lots will fill.
The hallways will come alive.
Classrooms will be filled with conversations, laughter, learning, and possibility.

Students — tomorrow is your day.

A new school year means a fresh start. A new opportunity to work harder, dream bigger, make a new friend, overcome a challenge, and become a little better than you were yesterday.

Welcome Back, Hominy Bucks!

Dear Hominy Families, Students, Staff, and Community,

Welcome back! We are excited to begin another great school year at Hominy Public Schools, and we cannot wait to welcome our students back to campus.

We will kick off the new year with our Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, August 11, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. Families are invited to visit our school, meet teachers and staff, and get ready for the year ahead. Hot dogs and ice cream will be served at the Elementary School during Back-to-School Night.

Immediately following Back-to-School Night, there will be a community-sponsored Prayer Walk around our campuses, beginning at the Elementary School. We appreciate the members of our community who have organized this event and continue to support our students, staff, and schools.

The first day of school will be Thursday, August 13th, 2026.

We understand that there may be some anxiety surrounding a few of the location and procedure changes taking place this year. Please know that our administrative team, teachers, and staff have been preparing for these changes for the past three months. A tremendous amount of planning has gone into making these transitions as smooth as possible while continuing to put the safety, education, and well-being of our students first.

Our responsibility as a school district is to take the resources and information we have available at the time and maximize them to the fullest extent possible for our students. Every decision we make is centered around doing the best we can for our kids with the people, facilities, funding, and resources entrusted to us.

As we begin the year and put some of these new procedures into practice, there may be adjustments that need to be made along the way. We ask for your patience and understanding as our students, families, and staff settle into their new routines. When something needs to be adjusted, we will evaluate it, communicate, and work together to make it better.

Most importantly, we are excited to get our students back in our classrooms and pick up where we left off. We had a great year last year, and we look forward to continuing that momentum academically, athletically, and throughout our school community.

Thank you to our families, staff, Board of Education, and community for your continued support of Hominy Public Schools. We are excited about what lies ahead and ready for another outstanding year.
