The class offerings are available anywhere from two to five days a week from 9:00 am until noon, with an extended care program also offered. Each program gives children a chance to interact with others while
learning and having fun. We provide a safe, educational, and nurturing environment for the children. Preschool for 3 and 4 year olds: Choose from two, three, four, or five day-a-week class offerings. Your child starts the educational journey at Salem learning personal responsibility, decision-making, and cooperation using a Christian-based approach. The academic curriculum includes literacy, art, mathematics, physical education, music, and religion. The school day begins at 9:00 am and ends at noon. Kindergarten: Your child will continue the educational journey at Salem with a well-rounded curriculum that includes language, art, mathematics, technology, physical education, music, and religion. Students will continue to grow socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and spiritually. Extended Care Enrichment: Extended care enrichment includes art, cooking, science, music, and games, as well as recreation and rest. Salem welcomes students before school beginning as early as 7:30 am. Afternoon enrichment is from noon to as late as 5:30 pm and includes lunch. Two-riffic Days: Beginning at age 18 months, this program is offered one morning per week. Your child is introduced to a school environment with music and movement, story time, Jesus time, and socialization with other children. It is the philosophy of Salem Lutheran Early Childhood Center that each child is a unique and special gift of God, with different needs and abilities. Each child is encouraged to develop socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually and spiritually at his or her own rate. Children are taught in a loving, Christian environment that emphasizes respect, sharing, getting along with others, and learning while having fun. We believe in the teamwork aspect of training a child -- family, school, church and community. We keep in touch with our parents through daily conversations, weekly/monthly newsletters, and parent/teacher conferences. Our Center is licensed by the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services. Our experienced staff members meet or exceed DCFS requirements for teachers. No child is discriminated against because of race, color, s*x, religion, national or ethnic origin. Any child with special needs will be considered on an individual basis.
