Beginning in our toddler classrooms, the child begins to develop coordination, concentration, and independence while realizing that learning is an exciting process of discovery. By graduation, our sixth-graders have grown into natural leaders, taking pride in their education and developing skills such as self-discipline, motivation, and confidence. Students are treated as individuals from preschoo

l through the elementary years, which allows them to discover their own strengths and develop a strong sense of self–vital ingredients for later success in school and in life. Teachers that choose to go through the extensive training process to become a certified Montessori teacher do so because they are passionate about their work. This passion translates into enthusiasm in the classroom and creates an inspiring environment for learners. At CMS, the student-teacher ratio is also significantly higher than at comparable institutions. Our student-teacher ratios are minimally 5-1 for toddlers, 11-1 for preschoolers, and 12-1 for elementary students. CMS also has an active parent-led organization called the Parent Teacher Alliance which allows parents to develop a strong sense of partnership and community within the CMS family. After graduation many of our students attend local private schools such as The Altamont School and Indian Springs School as well as public middle schools and the Alabama School of Fine Arts.

Our students have exhibited their talents in many ways over the past few weeks. Our Bollywood dancers showcased the techniques they learned all year in Ms. Nooreen’s Bollywood Dancing extracurricular, Ms. Cindy’s dancers displayed characteristics of ballerinas at their end of year performance, and Ms. Katie’s musical theatre extracurricular students were truly showstoppers in their presentation of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Spring Garden Day was a success that started with an original poem by CMS student, Woods R.

“This is Spring”

Here we sit and watch the leaves,
Return to beautiful shades of green.
The flowers grow in reds and oranges,
This is spring, yes, this is spring.
The bees fly and pollinate,
And spread the growth from place to place.
The flowers grow in yellows and greens,
The butterflies roam and fly with grace.
All the creatures we can see,
Ants, arachnids, centipedes.
The flowers grow in blues and purples,
Here they all thrive freely.
Here we sit and watch the garden,
Return in all of its beautiful gleam.
The flowers grow in the colors of the rainbow,
This is spring, yes, this is spring.
