Meet Our Founder: Yogini Modi

Major Yogini Modi (Retd.) is the Founder & Assistant Chief Pilot of Orient Flight School, bringing over three decades of leadership, discipline, and aviation excellence to every student she mentors.

Her journey of service began in India, where she proudly graduated from the National Cadet Corps (NCC), developing the leadership, discipline, ,commitment and Glider flying that would shape her distinguished military and aviation career. Her passion for flying begin from the Glider flying and later led her to Microlight flying for Army Aero Nodal Center Gaya, further strengthening her foundation as an aviator she is today.

A former Major in the Indian Army, Yogini commanded operations at one of the world’s highest-altitude airports, led large-scale military aviation and disaster response missions, and became the first Indian woman to fly the longest distance in a microlight aircraft, earning a place in the Limca Book of Records.

Today, as an FAA-certified Commercial Pilot, CFI, CFII, and MEI with 4,000+ flight hours, she has trained and graduated over 520 pilots from around the world.

Through Orient Flight School, her mission is simple: to inspire, mentor, and equip aspiring pilots with the skills, confidence, and professionalism to succeed in aviation.

Yogini is a Scholarship Trustee and a lifetime member of The Ninety-Nines, International Organization of Women Pilots. Under her leadership, Orient Flight School sponsors multiple scholarships and supports general aviation initiatives, including Let’s Fly Now, EAA Fly-Ins, FAA Safety Seminars, and AOPA Rusty Pilot programs, helping strengthen and grow the aviation community.

Her journey is a testament to leadership, resilience, and the belief that the sky is never the limit. ✈️

Meet Our Founder: Bryan Shelton

Bryan is the Founder and Chief Pilot of Orient Flight School, bringing more than 30 years of experience as a professional pilot, instructor, aircraft mechanic, and aviation business owner.

Raised in Texas, Bryan’s childhood also took him to New York and Lima Peru, giving him a unique international perspective that has shaped both his aviation career and his approach to training.

Throughout his career, Bryan has accumulated a remarkably diverse range of flying experience. He has instructed hundreds of aspiring pilots, flown seaplanes commercially, worked in agricultural aviation alongside crop-dusting operations, supported lighter-than-air (blimp) operations, and built a career flying international cargo. He also holds type ratings in the Boeing 727 and 767 flying internationally with cargo airlines reflecting extensive experience in transport-category aircraft.

Among Bryan’s favorite aviation experiences has been ferrying general aviation aircraft across Europe and into Africa—combining adventure, technical skill, and international flight operations in some of the world’s most rewarding flying environments.

Beyond the cockpit, Bryan is an FAA-certified Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic with Inspection Authorization (A&P/IA). This rare combination of pilot and maintenance expertise allows him to provide students with a deeper understanding of aircraft systems, maintenance, safety, and real-world operations.

As Founder and Chief Pilot of Orient Flight School, Bryan is committed to developing safe, confident, and professional aviators. Every student benefits from decades of real-world experience, a culture built on integrity and safety, and a genuine passion for helping others achieve their aviation goals.
