Good morning all! We would like to invite you to the public quarterly meeting at our library on Sunday, August 9th at 2:30 pm. We are having a presentation by Chris Adams, aka “Turtleman”. The topic will be “Settlers of the Okeefenokee Swamp Region”. We would love to have you join us!
Known by many as “Turtleman”, Chris Adams is an esteemed naturalist, historian, farmer, and folklorist hailing from deep Southern Georgia. Being a tenth generation native of the Wiregrass region, he travels throughout the southeastern US sharing that knowledge of place and cultural identity. Adams is also a seed saver; collecting, cataloging, and growing ancestral heirlooms from local families all for the sake of preservation. The proprietor of Old South Farm, his mission is to be a steward of the very plants and animals which early settlers in this region would have cultivated and reared on the landscape. He has written for various publications, appeared on ‘Crime Stories with Nancy Grace’, and recently filmed with Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. Chris Adams serves as the History Guild Chairman for the Okefenokee Heritage Center where he is also an active board member.
