This post resonates deeply with me because I wasn't just connected to the Tutor/Mentor movement, I was impacted by it.

As someone who benefited from having caring adults invest their time, encouragement, and support into the lives of young people, I understand firsthand that one positive relationship can change the trajectory of a life. Sometimes all it takes is one person who sees your potential, believes in you, and shows up consistently.

What I appreciate about this model is that it recognizes that mentoring isn't just about one relationship. In communities where poverty affects thousands of children, we need strong organizations, safe spaces, and mentor-rich programs that create opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and thrive. These programs become anchors, providing stability, hope, and a sense of belonging.

I am living proof that when people invest in children, the impact lasts far beyond childhood. The seeds planted through mentoring, tutoring, encouragement, and exposure continue to bear fruit years later.

As we think about the next generation, let's continue creating pathways for children and young adults to connect with caring adults who can help them dream bigger, see further, and realize their potential. Every child deserves someone in their corner.

Thank you to those who have dedicated their lives to this work and to those who continue to invest in the lives of young people every day. Your impact matters more than you may ever know.

Year 4, Still Walking in Purpose, Still Honoring T.J.

Today was special. For the 4th year through TJs Angels & T.Js Connections, we had the honor of celebrating our graduating seniors with small tokens of love, encouragement, and purpose all in honor and memory of T.J.

This year we celebrated 9 high school graduates: Aaron Walker, JD Smith, Callie Smith, Daniel Rinaldi, Gracie Selph, Mattox Allen, Jeqias Norris, Layla Mials, and Evan Strickland.

And in our hearts, we also honor Jonah Pittman, who should have been celebrating alongside the Class of 2026. His life mattered, his memory matters, and he will never be forgotten.

Every year this mission grows deeper for me. What started from grief has turned into purpose, service, healing, community, and legacy. T.J. would have turned 24 this year, and being able to continue pouring into students in his honor means more than words can explain.

Inside each gift was a reminder to stay grounded in faith, keep God as their direction, and never lose sight of their purpose during life’s transitions. Because graduation is not just about finishing school, it’s about stepping into who you are called to become.

To every graduate: Protect your peace.
Stay humble. Keep God first. Dream big.
And never underestimate your ability to change the world.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Nelson Mandela

Year 4, thank you for allowing us to continue this mission. One act of kindness.
One student encouraged. One legacy continued at a time.

Help us celebrate our graduates in the comments below with words of encouragement and congratulations!
