Attention 8th grade band members and parents: I'm going to be posting info regarding 8th Grade Band Night this Friday.

We have a practice tomorrow after school @ BCHS from 3:30-4:45 with the high school marching band. Students will be loaded on to a bus and taken over there for practice. Students will need to be picked up at 4:45 on the bus ramp side of the high school. 8th Grade Band Night is this Friday. We will take a bus over after school and will practice again at the stadium with the marching band. Afterwards, students will be provided a Chick-fil-A dinner at BCHS. Students will march down to the stadium @ 6:15. Students will perform pre game and will perform with the BCHS marching band during the game. Students must stay the entire game. It’s encouraged that students bring money for concessions during their 3rd quarter break. Admission into the game for parents/others is $7. Students need to be picked up at the end of the game (around 10:00 PM @ the stadium/bus ramp side). I’m looking forward to having a wonderful and fun night with everyone this Friday!

Hello everyone! I hope that you are all doing well and have had a fantastic year so far! I wanted to inform you that we will have a Spring Concert this year and that it will be on May 13th at the Banks County High School Auditorium. To keep everyone safe and help with social distancing during the concert, we will be doing a "staggered" style of concert. 6th Grade Band will have a call time of 5:00 at the high school band room. They will then perform at 5:30. Once their concert is over, if they are not a member of the chorus program then they will be dismissed and may go home. The call time for chorus is 5:30 and they will perform at 6:00 after 6th grade band has been dismissed. If your child is in 7th and 8th grade band then their call time is 6:00. Once chorus is finished with their performance they will be dismissed. 7th and 8th grade band will perform at 6:45 and will be done by 7:30. Once students are done with their performance and are dismissed you and your child are allowed to leave unless you would like to stay and watch the rest of the groups. If you have any questions please feel free to let me know. We are so excited to be able to perform for you on May 13th!

Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing well and staying safe during this very difficult time. I wanted to inform you about the upcoming Spring concert. Sadly because of everything that is going on with COVID-19, we are canceling the Spring concert. Depending on future circumstances, we may be able to reschedule, but as of now it's canceled. I know all of the students put in so much hard work to prepare for this concert, but the safety of everyone comes first. To all of my students, I wanted to also say that I miss you very much. We will all get through this difficult time and I look forward to seeing you and creating beautiful music with you when we meet next. If there is anything at all that I can do for you, please let me know. Please stay safe during these uncertain times.

This is a reminder for 7th and 8th grade band that we have our Pre-LGPE concert tomorrow night at the high school auditorium. Call time is 5:00 in the high school band room. We perform at 6:00 and the concert will be over at 6:45. Students will need to wear their uniform to the concert. Students are allowed to stay after school and we will take a bus over to the high school. Family and friends are more than welcome to come and enjoy the concert!

Congratulations to Josie Cochran for representing Banks County Middle School this weekend at the GMEA District 14 Honor Band Clinic! 750 students auditioned, out of those 750 only 200 students were selected to represent our district at the GMEA District 14 Honor Band. We are very proud of you Josie!

Hey everyone! I hope that everyone's 2020 has been fantastic so far. We have some very important events coming up for our 7th and 8th grade Concert Band that I want to make sure you're aware of. On March 4th we have our LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) performance. It will be at East Jackson High School in their auditorium. Our performance time is at 10:30 that morning. This performance is crucial for us because we will be judged by 3 judges who will give us a rating of our performance, as well as great comments we can take back to our band room and utilize. After our performance we will go to Chick-fil-A to eat lunch. Students will need to bring money for lunch that day. All students will be back in plenty of time to get home their usual way. Because of the importance of LGPE, we have some events prior to it that are crucial for our success at LGPE. On February 18th and 24th we have after school band practice from 3:30-5:00 at the middle school. We also have our Pre LGPE concert at the high school on February 20th. At this concert we will get helpful comments from judges to help us in our continued preparation for LGPE. This concert will be at 6:00. Call time for that is 5:00 and students are allowed to stay after school. Uniform for both Pre LGPE and LGPE is our normal concert uniform. I will be sending a letter home Monday next week with more info and specifics about LGPE. Again, all of these events listed are just for 7th and 8th grade band students. If you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to ask. Myself, as well as all of the students are truly looking forward to all of these upcoming events!

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! This week is the big week!

Tomorrow: Concert Band (7th and 8th grade) rehearsal from 3:30-5:00 @ BCMS. Pick up at the parent pickup/car rider line.

Tuesday (the big day!): Christmas Concert (Call time is 5:00 and we perform at 6:00). The concert is at the BCHS Auditorium. You will need to come to the entrance where the high school cafeteria/band room is.

We hope everyone is excited for the performance and please be inviting people to come celebrate the Christmas season with us. The students have worked extremely hard to prepare for this performance and we look forward to performing for everyone on Tuesday night!

Hey everyone! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Just a friendly reminder of a couple events on the horizon. We have a required rehearsal for 7th and 8th grade band on Dec. 9th at the middle school till 5:00. Parents/guardians will need to pick up everyone at the main entrance (parent pickup/car rider line). Then the next day we have our Christmas concert (Dec. 10th). It will be at the high school and will begin at 6:00. I will update you all with a call time soon. Everyone has been working so hard for this concert and we hope you will join us and celebrate Christmas with us that evening! Thank you for all that you do!

Polos were delivered this afternoon for people who ordered them. I will be giving them to students tomorrow morning. If I haven't received payment for the polos, they will get a letter to bring home with them instead with more information. Thank you and have a great rest of your day!
