Wildcat Golfers Fire Season-Low 193 to Stay Unbeaten

BLAIRSVILLE, PA - The Homer-Center Wildcats continued their remarkable 2026 golf season Tuesday afternoon, posting their most impressive performance of the year with a 193-251 victory over the Conemaugh Township Indians on the front nine of Chestnut Ridge Golf Course. The Wildcats' outstanding round included 10 birdies, three season-best individual scores, and their lowest team score of the season as Homer-Center remained perfect at 6-0.

Playing the front nine at Chestnut Ridge, the Wildcats attacked the par-36 layout from the opening tee. The course's terrain and surprisingly quick greens punish any errant shots, but Homer-Center consistently found ways to take advantage of scoring opportunities while keeping big numbers off the scorecard.

Leading the charge was Elliott Drew, who delivered the round of the day with a spectacular even-par 36. Drew's round included an impressive four birdies and only 15 putts, earning him match medalist honors. His 36 also marked a season-best performance for him.

Reece Coy continued his strong season with a 38, including two birdies, while Jordy Arone posted a solid 39. Ty Steffey also carded a 39 and added a birdie to the Wildcats' impressive total. Aiden Darr rounded out the five scores used toward the team total with a 41, highlighted by a birdie and an impressive 16 putts. Cole Sorber added a 42 and another birdie.

When the five counting scores were added together, the Wildcats finished at 193, their lowest team score of the season. The score put considerable distance between Homer-Center and Conemaugh Township, which finished at 251.

The Wildcats' depth was on full display as well. Noah Todd, competing as an alternate, fired a 40, a season-best score, while also recording a birdie. The Wildcats also had another season-best performance from Chase Arone, who shot a 54. Although alternate scores do not count toward the team score, they do count toward the players' individual season averages and provide valuable opportunities for all players.

At 6-0, the Wildcats have now won their first six matches of the season and continue to build momentum with every round. Homer-Center will return to Chestnut on Thursday as they host the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays. Homer-Center golf continues to thank Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort, Restaurant & Event Center for hosting this memorable season.

Wildcats Keep Rolling, Cruise Past Conemaugh Township

STOYSTOWN, PA - With rolling fairways stretching across the countryside and the Laurel Highlands rising in the distance, Oakbrook Golf Club provided a picturesque setting for Thursday afternoon's matchup between the Homer-Center Wildcats and Conemaugh Township Indians. The Wildcats once again proved right at home on the links, putting together a strong team performance to cruise past the Indians 206-241 and continue their impressive start to the season.

Playing the back nine of the par-36 Oakbrook layout, the Wildcats once again showed that they can win in a variety of ways. While the team score wasn't quite as low as some of their earlier rounds, Homer-Center received solid contributions throughout its lineup, and plenty of excitement along the way.

Leading the Wildcats was Reece Coy, who fired a 40 to earn match-medalist honors. Coy also provided one of the highlights of the afternoon, recording two birdies during his round. Jordy Arone followed with a 41, while Elliot Drew also posted a 41 and added a birdie of his own. Ty Steffey carded a 42, Aiden Darr finished with a 42 and added a birdie, and Cole Sorber rounded out the Wildcats' scoring with a 43. Homer-Center's depth was on display once again, as alternate Jett Housholder turned in a 48, a season-best for him.

Conemaugh Township was led by Skylar McVicker, who shot a 44. Nick Hershberger, Noah Hurzell and Noah Stultz each carded 48s, while Maura McCall and Emily Purdy finished with 54 and 56, respectively. The Indians finished with a team score of 241.

For the Wildcats, Thursday's victory was another step forward in what has been a terrific season thus far. Homer-Center entered the match at 4-0, and the win keeps the Wildcats rolling as they continue to build confidence and consistency with each trip to the links.

Four birdies, a match-medalist performance from Coy, and another season-best round from the team's depth made for a memorable afternoon at Oakbrook.

Wildcats Slip Past Wolves, Stay Perfect at 4-0

BLAIRSVILLE, PA - It was a beautiful afternoon for golf at Chestnut Ridge, but the competition between the Homer-Center Wildcats and the West Shamokin Wolves was anything but easy.
With the rolling hills, lush fairways, and dramatic summer sky providing the backdrop, the Wildcats battled to a thrilling 199-202 victory over West Shamokin on the front nine at Chestnut Ridge Golf Course. The three-stroke victory keeps Homer-Center perfect on the season at 4-0, while West Shamokin falls to 3-1.

The match featured plenty of excitement, including a pair of season-best rounds for the Wildcats. Aiden Darr fired a season-best 38 and, even more impressively, found the bottom of the cup for two birdies during his round. Darr's 38 earned him team-medalist honors alongside teammate Reece Coy, who also posted a 38. Behind the two 38s, Homer-Center's depth once again proved to be the difference. Jordy Arone, Cole Sorber, Elliot Drew and Ty Steffey each carded a 41, giving the Wildcats a remarkable six players who finished within just three strokes of one another. That consistency allowed Homer-Center to sneak under the 200 mark for the first time and hold off a strong West Shamokin squad.

West Shamokin came out swinging and actually had the lowest individual round of the match. Carter Myers fired an impressive 37 to earn match-medalist honors. The Wolves also received a 38 from Carson Carnahan, while Tanner Cook and Nick Krizmanich each shot 41. Antonio Buffone added a 45 and Finn Merrow a 46. But Homer-Center's balanced attack was enough to withstand West Shamokin's challenge.

The Wildcats also got a season-best performance from alternate Chase Arone, who carded a 56.

The victory marks another strong showing for a Homer-Center team that has quickly established itself as one of the area's teams to watch. Four matches into the season, the Wildcats remain undefeated, and their ability to win close matches with contributions throughout the lineup continues to be a major strength.

For now, the Wildcats can enjoy another win, but with the season still young, there are plenty more fairways to find, greens to hit, and birdies to chase. The Wildcat golfers will travel to Conemaugh Township for another Heritage Conference match on Thursday.

Wildcats Stay Perfect, Tie Team Record in Win Over River Valley

The Homer-Center Wildcats are proving that they are not only undefeated, but they are also becoming increasingly difficult to beat.

On a picture-perfect summer afternoon at Chestnut Ridge Golf Course, Homer-Center delivered one of its best team performances of the young season, defeating the River Valley Panthers 200-244 while tying the program's record for the lowest team score in a match.

With blue skies overhead, rolling fairways beneath their feet, and the surrounding hills providing a scenic backdrop, the Wildcats' golf game was just as impressive as the setting. Homer-Center's 200 kept the Wildcats perfect at 3-0, while River Valley dropped to 3-3.

Leading the charge was Reece Coy, who turned in a season-low even-par 36 to claim match-medalist honors. Coy's even-par round was the best score of the afternoon and set the tone for a Homer-Center lineup that produced strong scores from top to bottom.

Aiden Darr continued the Wildcats' strong showing with a 39, followed by Cole Sorber with a 41. Jordy Arone and Noah Todd each carded a 42, while Elliot Drew finished with a 43. Alternate Ty Steffey also turned in an impressive 39, which is his season best. Two additional players had season-best rounds, including Noah Todd and Chase Arone.

For River Valley, Brady Doak led the Panthers with a 42. Noah Carnahan followed with a 49, while Nate Beuten and Hunter Baird posted 50 and 51, respectively. Luke Rokicsak rounded out the Panthers' scoring with a 52.

The victory was more than just another win for the Wildcats. By posting a 200, Homer-Center matched the best team score, highlighting just how strong the team has been early in the season. More importantly, the Wildcats accomplished it through a complete team effort, with every contributing score coming in at 42 or better.

As the Wildcats continue their unbeaten run, the confidence and consistency of the team are becoming impossible to overlook.

And they won't have to wait long for their next opportunity.

Homer-Center returns to the links Tuesday, when the Wildcats welcome the West Shamokin Wolves. If Monday's record-tying performance is any indication, the Wildcats will be looking to keep their perfect season and their momentum rolling.

Wildcats Continue Hot Start with Dominating Win at Immergrun

The Homer-Center Wildcats continued their impressive start to the 2026 golf season Tuesday afternoon, cruising past the Portage Area Mustangs, 207-311, at the picturesque Immergrun Golf Club in Loretto. With the rolling hills, tree-lined fairways, strategically placed hazards, and undulating greens providing a challenging test, the Wildcats once again showed that they are ready to compete at a high level. Homer-Center's victory improves the Wildcats to 2-0 on the young season, while Portage falls to 1-5.

Immergrun provided a beautiful backdrop for the afternoon, with dramatic clouds hanging over the course and stretches of blue sky providing a striking contrast to the lush green fairways. The course's elevation changes demanded precise club selection, while the thick tree lines left little room for error. One of the most picturesque features was the elevated terrain surrounding the greens, where a missed approach could quickly turn into a difficult recovery.

Leading the way for the Wildcats was Jordy Arone, who fired a 39 to earn medalist honors. Arone's sub-40 round was the lowest score of the day and helped establish the tone for another strong team performance. Reece Coy and Cole Sorber added 41s, while Eliott Drew carded a 42, and Aiden Darr finished with a 44.

Ty Steffey provided some excitement throughout the afternoon, recording two birdies during his round. Drew nearly added an unforgettable highlight of his own on the sixth hole. His approach shot found the bottom of the cup, but the ball bounced back out before settling nearby. What would have been a spectacular eagle on No. 6 instead became a birdie after Drew tapped in.

The Wildcats also received strong contributions from their alternates. Noah Todd shot a 43, while Jett Housholder recorded a season-low 52.

Homer-Center's depth once again proved to be a major factor. The Wildcats' five scoring golfers combined for a 207, while Portage's five scores totaled 311. Portage was led by Kendall Beduarski with a 52, followed by Nathan Phillips with a 59, Josh Rosemas with a 62, D'Mitrius Krumenacker with a 68, and Aden Gabel with a 70.
After two matches, Homer-Center has already established itself as a team capable of putting together strong scores from top to bottom. With Arone leading the way, steady contributions throughout the lineup, and players continuing to post season-best rounds, the Wildcats are off to a 2-0 start and building plenty of momentum for the matches ahead. Homer-Center will host Heritage Conference rival Northern Cambria on Thursday.
