A little cleaning, a lot of gratitude. 💛🏠
Last week, our Program Staff, along with Rachel, one of our UMass Work-Study students, had the opportunity to work alongside three Elms College students — Emily, Abby, and Sebastian, as part of their First Year Encounter Program!
Together, we cleaned and organized our classrooms and filled them with new supplies generously donated by our community. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make sure our students have what they need for another great year!
We ended our second day with a special lunch with Sister Jane and Sister Margaret, who STILL joins us at Homework House to work with our 1st and 2nd graders! ❤️
We also had the opportunity to share letters written to Sister Jane by our Summer Camp students, thanking her and Sister Maureen Broghan for starting Homework House as a grassroots project in 2006. As we begin our 20th year of Homework House, watching Sister Jane read those letters was a pretty special full-circle moment.
Twenty years later, that same spirit continues - students, tutors, volunteers, staff, and our community showing up for Holyoke’s kids.
