UC FARM SMART FARM SMART is an educational outreach program of University of California ANR through the Desert Research and Extension Center in Holtville, CA.

FARM SMART hosts thousands of visitors each year through its K-12 programs and Winter Visitor programs. We are located at the Desert Research and Extension Center near Holtville, CA, also known as the "Meloland Station".

Farm Smart is looking for a paid student intern to join our team! If you're a college student with a passion for agriculture, education, and hands-on learning, we'd love to hear from you.

Open booking for the 2026–2027 Farm Smart field trip season is almost here! Mark your calendars—booking opens Monday, August 24 at 8:00 AM and spots fill quickly on a first come, first served basis.
Before you reserve your visit, please take a moment to review a few important updates for this school year:
🌱 Field trips will now be $5 per student with a $150 minimum charge to help offset increasing operational costs.
🚜 We can accommodate 50 students and 10 adults per day, so larger groups should plan to book multiple dates.
📚 Fall field trips will be offered Tuesday–Friday from October through December (excluding holiday breaks).
We can't wait to welcome your students back to the farm for another season of hands-on agricultural learning!

🌊💦 Join us for our final Wiggle Worms of the season as we end the series with a splash! Bring your little ones (ages 0–5) for a fun-filled morning of water play, sensory exploration, and summer fun on Tuesday, July 7 at 8:00am. Come dressed for water play, and don't forget sun protection to stay cool. Outside snacks are welcome!

🫐🍉 Due to the berry great success of our last Wiggle Worms event, we’re doing it again! Join us for another morning of movement, music, sensory exploration, and summertime fun designed especially for children ages 0–5 and their families.

Little ones will wiggle, dance, play, and learn while building gross motor, fine motor, and social skills through hands-on activities, bubbles, sensory bins, and more! ✨
