𝘾𝙊𝙈𝙈𝙄𝙏𝙏𝙀𝘿‼️ Starting off the Class of '27 with a 💥as we welcome another in-state bigtime commit in Holton's Marley Gilliland. Marley is a 3x State Qualifier and 2x State Placer, 3rd & 5th. She has her school's season pins record and also highest win%. A hard worker in the weightroom with her school's bench press record and a talented multi-sport athlete as she is a 7x State Qualifier across 3 sports.

A standout student with a 4.0 GPA and a member of National Honor Society.

Marley said: "The moment I stepped onto campus, I knew it was home. The entire wrestling community welcomed me and made me feel like I belonged here. I had found the place where I was meant to be."

From Coach Harris: "Our first commits from the last 3 years have all been great in-staters , with Anna Patz in Class of '25, Finnley Kellerman in Class of '26, and now Marley. All similar as they are awesome people, great students, and tough competitors. Marley is very committed to her journey to excel in everything she does, getting in a lot of individual work with BU alum and 3x national champ Lucas Lovvorn. Baker has had a long history of great athletes from Holton in all sports, and we are very excited to add Marley to that list!"

Cailee’s NHS Passion Project: I recently completed my passion project for NHS. For my project, I created Easter gift boxes for my residents at the nursing home I am employed at, The Pines. These gift boxes each included a stress ball, chapstick, lotion, and a fun stuffed animal. I was able to hand them out on Easter Day and enjoy the residents’ reactions to getting a gift!

Last month, three of our students stepped into leadership roles at the Topeka Model United Nations conference and represented our district with professionalism, confidence, and skill.

Marisa Meyer, Rebekah Lassey, and Olivia Doney each took on significant responsibilities over the two-day event, helping lead and support a full-scale simulation involving students from across the region.

Marisa served as Secretary General, a role that put her at the center of the entire conference. She delivered opening and closing remarks, supported logistics and organization, managed crisis simulations, and helped resolve delegate disputes. It’s a demanding role that requires poise and strong decision-making, and she handled it exceptionally well.

Rebekah was selected as Co-Secretary of General Assembly II and ultimately stepped in as acting Co-President. She helped set the agenda, ensured accurate tracking of resolutions and amendments, guided parliamentary procedures, supported communication among delegates, and contributed to the closing ceremony. Her ability to step up when needed speaks a lot about her leadership.

Olivia served as Co-Secretary of World Council I, supporting the flow and structure of her council. She guided delegates through parliamentary procedures, tracked amendments and resolutions, managed timing during debates, and supported the leadership team with conference logistics.

These experiences don’t just build knowledge of global issues, they build confidence, communication skills, and leadership that carries forward well beyond the classroom.

We’re proud of the way these students represented our schools and the effort they put into making the conference a success!

Blood donations are essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. Please consider making a life-saving donation at our upcoming blood drive.

Holton High School NHS will be hosting a blood drive on Monday, March 23rd, from 11 AM - 4 PM, in the JV gym.
Students who are 16 can donate with a signed parent permission form, which can be picked up in the HHS office.

“For my National Honor Society passion project, I made handmade Valentine’s Day cards for residents at The Pines. I created all the cards myself and delivered them on February 1st. This project connects to the NHS pillars of service and character because it focused on giving back to others and showing kindness and compassion to people in the community. This experience allowed me to spread positivity and bring smiles during the Valentine’s season.“

As part of their National Honor Society passion project, 4 high school wrestlers held a youth wrestling clinic for ages 5-14, on December 7th. The clinic was led by wrestlers Ansley Bear, Marley Gilliland, Bailey Kathrens, and Cael Fraizer. These 4 students took time to teach wrestling moves, show leadership, and ways to have good character. This project was a huge success! We had over 60 kids attend the clinic. We want to thank everyone who came to the clinic and supported the National Honor Society.
