Jackson Heights USD 335

Jackson Heights USD 335 Jackson Heights is a PK-12 school located five miles north of Holton, KS. We are the best school in Northeast Kansas.

In 1969, the building which once housed one of the nine Atlas nuclear missile silos in Northeast Kansas, was converted into Jackson Heights High School. The site had housed the missile base from 1961 until its closure in 1964 and then sat empty for five years. During that time, local school districts in the nearby towns of Soldier, Circleville, Netawaka and Whiting consolidated to form North Jacks

on Unified School District 335. A patron, Duane Wilson, then purchased the retired base from the federal government for the sum of $1.00 on behalf of the new school district. With a few minor modifications, the base became a high school and opened for classes in August 1969. In 1975, the construction of a second building was completed to accommodate the district's elementary and middle school students. With the passage of a $3 million bond issue on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, the construction of new classrooms and over-all facilities improvements began at Jackson Heights High School. This was the first major renovation since the school's opening and relocates middle school classrooms into the high school building.

Congrats and thanks to Duke Condo, our very own Jackson Heights FCCLA State Officer, who hosted a workshop on Personal Branding at the FCCLA Take Aim Trip in Manhattan! Duke did an outstanding job representing himself, our school, and FCCLA. We are so proud of his leadership and dedication! He also made a very creative and fun Instagram video review of the trip on the Kansas FCCLA Instagram page, go check it out!

Great job to Mary Leigh, who represented Jackson Heights as a District Officer! She helped run our district meeting and did a wonderful job representing herself, our school, and FCCLA.

Finally, we had Sophia, Johnnie, and Ellie attend as newer FCCLA members. They participated in leadership-building activities and various workshops as they learned more about FCCLA and all the opportunities it has to offer.

We are proud of all of our members for stepping up, learning, leading, and representing Jackson Heights FCCLA!
