Wow, what an exciting 24 hours. When I quit teaching, I wanted to stay involved in education in our community so I ran for the board of education. It has been an eye-opening experience on so many levels. The way I "thought" things were ran and done, was so different than they actually are. I did not intend to run for a 2nd term but when the time arrived to decide, I felt my heart and soul being directed to run again. The parents and patrons that have reached out to me with concerns, questions or assistance, in my time on the board, you are a big part of my “why”. I want to thank those that think I have a done a job worthy of a 2nd term and cast their vote for me. I have, and will continue to openly represent the students, teachers, staff, parents, and individuals in USD #336. I have said many times in the past year that public education as we know it is changing rapidly and will look extremely different in the next few years. As a community and board of education, we are going to have be open to changes while still staying true to our values and beliefs in public education. Thank you again to those who encouraged me, wrote letters on my behalf, sent messages/texts and voted for me. Your faith and trust means so much. Now, it’s time to get back to work for USD #336.

While speaking to someone yesterday, they said something that I recognized as the best compliment I have received as a member of the USD #336 Board of Education. They said, “You always do what’s right for kids”. Being a board of Ed member is tough some days. No matter what you decide or say, someone will disagree or be unhappy. Knowing that others recognize, that any and every decision I have made is based on what is best for kids, followed up with “is it right for teachers/staff”, makes me proud of what we have accomplished. No matter the outcome of the election on Tuesday, I will continue to advocate for students and staff of USD #336 and forever be proud to have attended school here, taught at HHS and served on the board.

It has been my pleasure to work with the group of individuals, to make USD #336 the best it can be for our students, staff and community. When I looked at this picture I realized it was the last photo I have with Mike Ford. He truly cared about all kids and them getting the education they needed and deserved. Mike was also a strong supporter of our teachers and staff. He will be missed by so many. I ask for your vote on Nov 7th to continue working with this amazing team and district, to continue to build USD #336 as the strong district it can be.

Appreciate the support from these two individuals. I consider Joni White very knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to education. Her support means so much. Shelby Patch was my mentor on the board and has taught me so much. She knows the ins-and-outs of the way the district is run and managed by the board, and has shared that knowledge with me

I’m not seeing a way to start a post so I’ll post here and you can answer in a new post if you want.
Tell us some of the things you and the current BOE have accomplished while you have served as President as well as any goals that you all may have for the coming term.

What are you looking for in a board of education member? This can be for any district. Do you look for someone who has the same views and opinions as you? Is it someone who is easy to talk to about our schools and district? Does experience in education matter?

What school topics do you want to discuss or have questions about?

Welcome to a page for school and school board related questions. When I ran for the board the first time, 4 years ago, I did it because I wanted to give the teachers, staff, students and community a voice that I didn't feel they had at the time. I feel like I have done just that and want to continue to build that bridge between the community and our schools. I do understand that sometimes I can't share information with individuals like they think I should, but student/staff confidentiality is a top priority. Must be the special education teacher in me. Welcome to the page and please if you have questions ask them and I will do my best to answer them. I will NOT discuss specific students or staff on this page or in any open forum. If you have specific questions, please send me a PM or to my email at [email protected].
