Day 2 - State SkillsUSA Contests are in progress in Madison. Students are competing in Power Equipment Technology, Related Technical Math, and Welding Sculpture. Here are some pictures of Logan in his Power Equipment Contest.

Day 1 of the 2026 SkillsUSA State Contest has wrapped up. Our students attended the opening ceremony and were able to see Holmen High School alumn Ben Strupp up on stage being recognized, where he’ll attend the world skills competition in Shanghai, China in September. Also included is a picture of Tyler with his welding sculpture as he is getting ready to hand it over to the judges.

🌍 From Holmen to the World Stage 🌍

We are proud to celebrate Holmen High School alum Benjamin Strupp, who has been selected as Team USA’s official competitor in Heavy Vehicle Technology for the 2026 WorldSkills Competition—often called the Olympics of skilled trades.

Ben will represent the United States this September in Shanghai, China, competing against the best young technicians from around the world. A graduate of Holmen High School and Madison Area Technical College, Ben’s journey is a powerful example of where passion, hard work, and career & technical education can lead.

Ben is a two-time SkillsUSA Wisconsin State Champion in Diesel Equipment Technology (high school and postsecondary) and earned 2nd place nationally at the 2025 SkillsUSA Championships in Atlanta. His path began with hands-on learning and a love for working with heavy equipment—interests he discovered and developed early on.

“It feels incredible that someone from a small town in Wisconsin could work hard and be chosen to represent the United States,” Ben shared.

As he prepares for an intensive nine months of training, Ben will showcase not only his technical skill but also the strength of career-focused education programs that prepare students for real-world success.

Congratulations, Ben—we’ll be cheering you on from Holmen as you take your talents to the global stage!
