Homeroom 14 are using their teamwork skills to build their tallest marshmallow tower.

I have this caption for you:🏗️ Teamwork makes the tower work! 🤝
Students in Ms. Bancalari & Ms. Mellone’s Homeroom put their teamwork skills to the test with the Marshmallow Tower Challenge! Using creativity, communication, problem-solving, and a whole lot of collaboration, teams worked together to build the tallest tower they could! 🍝☁️

There were plenty of ideas, a few wobbly towers, and lots of teamwork along the way! 💡👏

What a fun way to kick off the year and show that we can accomplish more when we work together! 💙

1. Feeling a Cloud ☁️
Students experienced the extremely cold nitrogen gas firsthand by feeling the "cloud" created during the demonstration. They learned how temperature changes can affect matter.

2. Rubber Tubing Demonstration 🧪
The rubber tubing became brittle after being exposed to liquid nitrogen, helping students understand what extreme cold can do to materials and why direct contact with liquid nitrogen is dangerous.

3. Frozen Rose 🌹
Students observed a rose frozen with liquid nitrogen. Fun fact: similar freezing processes can be used in industries such as perfume production. We were also excited to have Holmdel High School graduate Connor assisting Mr. Woods and Ms. Reckage during the demonstrations!

4. Water Bottle & Balloon Expansion 🎈
As liquid nitrogen warmed and turned into gas, it expanded rapidly, creating tremendous pressure. This demonstrated how gases take up much more space than liquids.

5. Molecules in Motion 👋
When students waved their hands, they were helping visualize how warmer air contains faster-moving molecules. This connected to our discussion about temperature and particle movement.

6. Popping Lid Experiment 💥
Students observed how liquid nitrogen changes into gas and expands. If gas is trapped in an airtight container, pressure builds quickly and can force the lid off.

7. Liquid Nitrogen Whipped Cream 🍦
Students learned that liquid nitrogen can be used safely in food preparation when handled properly. This demonstration showed how foods can be frozen almost instantly—similar to how Dippin' Dots are made!

8. Officer Steve's Frozen Water Bottle 🧊
Liquid nitrogen froze the contents of the bottle much faster than a household freezer could, demonstrating the effects of extremely low temperatures on matter.
