At MI, Valentina is focused on “developing and finding my sound. I want to learn everything I need to have a successful journey in the music industry." 🎸

Congratulations to MI student Sion Kim, the winner of the 2022 Schecter Nick Johnston Guitar Scholarship, named in honor of the talented and versatile rock guitarist and Schecter artist, Nick Johnston.

Sion comes to MI from South Korea with 5 years of guitar playing experience with specialization in R&B, Rock and Pop genres.

When asked what winning the scholarship meant to him, he shared, “This is my personal proof that my playing has definitely gotten better since I came to MI.”

MI Independent Artist Program graduate Elena Maro Music is celebrating today's release of “Tell It Like a Woman", a feature film comprising seven different interconnected segments and showcases talent from all over the world.

Elena was the composer for the animation segment "Aria" directed by Lucia Bulgheroni and Silvia Carobbio. Diane Warren has penned a song called "Applause" for the film, which is performed by Sofia Carson.

Elena shares, "I first arrived in the U.S. as a student at Musicians Institute where I found a vibrant, positive and empowering environment both because of the student diversity and the amazing instructors. The time spent at MI has a special place in my heart and will always." Congratulations, Elena!

MI alumnus, Andrea Di Taranto, graduated with a degree in Audio Engineering and Post Production and was the winner of the MI’s “Outstanding Post Production Student” award. On September 30, he released his debut album "Circle" under the name Glisz,, an electronic music project characterized by a fusion of electronic and downtempo sounds.

"Circle" was mixed and mastered by MI instructor Adam Kagan, who is most known for his work with Kanye West, Swedish House Mafia and countless others.

MI's Artist Development Showcase is this Wednesday! We're so excited to see these students bring their talents to the stage at the Concert Hall ✨ They will perform their own songs, backed by their bands of currently enrolled MI musicians, and will be critiqued in person by guest judges sourced from the music industry here in LA!

We caught up with MI mentor and past instructor Allan Rich at a special exhibit at The Hollywood Museum celebrating his prolific career!

He is a 2 time Oscar, Golden Globe, GRAMMY Award nominee, writing hit songs for Whitney Houston, *NSYNC, Tina Turner & more! He had some insight for MI students on how to make the most of their time at MI and advice on kicking off their careers. 🎶 🎤
