Team 836 The RoboBees The RoboBees, FIRST team 836, is a robotics team located in St. Mary's County, Maryland. The RoboBees were created in 2001 by Mr.

David Buddenbohn, a teacher at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center. Since then, we have grown into an incredibly diverse and unique student body from seven different schools and home schools. Because of our proximity to Naval Air Station Patuxent River (more commonly referred to as PAX River), engineering permeates our local culture. This is shown in full by the fact that our me

ntor base is predominantly composed of engineers, scientists, and mathematicians who work for the Navy and the contractors that support it.

As the end of the summer has begun, we are grateful for the outreach we were able to accomplish during this offseason. During this year's River Concert Series, The RoboBees participated as one of the booths set up. Our team had a paper rocket system in which people could create and launch paper rockets. We also had our outreach robot, Bumble, stationed alongside our booth. We are grateful to have had so many people, especially the many children we encountered, involved in these activities. We were able to reach out to many who were interested in the STEM activities associated with our programs. We hope that in the future we may reach out further into our community. Here are some photos of our activities at the River Concert from June 26th, July 10th, and July 24th. We hope that we can find other opportunities like this in the future.

In this post, our team would love to highlight those who received awards at our season banquet, which took place on the 7th of June. At our yearly banquets, we celebrate the end of the season and our team's success and memories. Our team wouldn’t exist without our mentors, students, parents, alumni, and other assistants who help out during the season. These awards emphasize the ways in which these people contributed, and we would like to acknowledge these feats as we excitedly await the next FRC season.

Everett Moulds was given the Leadership Award because of his outstanding leadership throughout the season.

Lyra Summers was given the PR-fect Vision Award as a result of their contributions to the media subteam.

Steven Summers’s many efforts were recognized with the Lore Keeper Award, an award highlighting his leadership, effort, and actions for documentation.

Toni Musolino, the mother of Dominic Musolino, was congratulated with The Foundation Award for her constant support of the team.

The Marble family was granted the Pit Crew Parent Award, recognizing the family's constant contributions.

The Steele family was presented with the STEM Superfan Award to commemorate the entire Steele family's enthusiasm and involvement during this season.

Another impressive award, the Late-Night Support Award, was bestowed upon Wolf Peters by Dominic Musolino. This Late-Night Support Award honors the many late hours put in the team by Wolf.

In this post, our team would love to highlight those who received awards at our season banquet, which took place on the 7th of June. John Mueller was awarded the Grease Monkey Award for his tremendous leadership and effort in mechanical design.

Sam Steele received the Rookie All-Star Award, recognizing his tremendous effort and assistance in his first season on the team.

One of our biggest contributing students over the years, Dominic Musolino, was given the Mentors’ Award as a result of his enormous dedication and team contributions.

Colin Butrym was credited with the SolidWorks Superhero Award for his tremendous contributions in mechanical design.

Collin Haycraft was presented with the Shockingly Good Award for his impressive, notable leadership and effort in electrical design.

Brady Foresta was awarded the Strategy Award for his important guidance and strategy provided during the season.

After every FRC season we like to make it a tradition to join together and reflect upon seasonal memories in a team banquet. This year's banquet took place on June 7th. On our banquets all students, mentors, parents, alumni, and all affiliated with the team gather. The banquets have speeches about the season, stories of our experiences, and special acknowledgements. The banquet centers around people enjoying themselves and connecting with one another in celebration. During this banquet, we were excited to celebrate such a successful and fun season, and we hope we will have many more seasons like this.

During the recent NAS Patuxent River Air Show, our FRC team, The RoboBees (Team 836), the growingSTEMS VEX IQ teams, and the growingSTEMS combat team, Honey Cracked, all appeared at the Air Show. We would like to highlight Honey Cracked, who hosted a combat robotics competition on the 20th of June, one of the two days our teams participated in the NAS Patuxent River Air Show.

On the 20th and 21st of June our team, The RoboBees, were one of the many vendors exhibiting at the massive NAS Patuxent River Air Show. At the venue, The RoboBees had our paper rockets alongside our outreach robot, Bumble, and our 2026 FRC robot, Phalanx. Alongside The RoboBees, there were also other growingSTEMS teams displaying their activities, including our many VEX IQ teams and our combat team Honey Cracked, which hosted a small combat robotics event on the 20th.

This year’s 2026 FIRST Chesapeake District Championship was a thrilling experience. We saw many different and unique Chesapeake teams. During this district championship, we made many memories and made it to the finals as part of Alliance 1, alongside Team 449 – The Blair Robot Project – and Team 5549 – Gryphon Robotics. After this district championship, our team would make it to worlds and end this exciting season.

All other teams featured in these photos include Team 11318 - Freedom Robotics, Team 2377 - C Company, Team 422 - The Mech Tech Dragons (Mech Tech Dragons: FRC 422), Team 614 - Night Hawks (FIRST Robotics Competition Team 614), Team 3136 - O.R.C.A., and Team 2537 - Space RAIDers (Space RAIDers).

Our second competition this season was the 2026 Severn event. During this event we were able to put in practice some of the improvements we had made after Pasadena. During this important event, we were on Alliance 1 with Team 2199, the Robo-Lions (Robo Lions FRC Team 2199), and Team 2534, the Lumberjack Robotics (Boys' Latin Lumberjack Robotics #2534). While on Alliance 1, the three of us would make it to the finals, which we would win.
