Dear Parents:
Our preschool laboratory will offer appropriate learning experiences that contribute to the physical, social, emotion, intellectual, and aesthetic development of your child. Program activities are geared to the individual needs of children a
ges three to five years (if turn 5 after Sept. 1). (Child must be toilet trained)
Our curriculum consists of learning centers and motivational activities that build important foundations for future educational experiences and other academic pursuits. Students will apply learning’s from Child Care I and exhibit ability to apply general guidance principle of caring for children in varying situations. The teacher and trainees work together to ensure that each child develops to his/her full potential. General Policies
1. Arrival and Dismissal
Preschool hours are 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Parents must adhere to our opening and closing times. Please be on time especially for pick up. If a child is picked up after 3:35 a late charge of $1.00 a minute will be applied. If you find you are going to be detained, please notify the school immediately. 2. Clothing
Think of your child’s comfort and provide simple clothing that is free of complicated fastening or ornaments. Please label all garments. Sneakers are best for climbing. Your child will need a complete extra change of clothing (include underwear and socks). Place clothing in a plastic bag with your child’s name clearly marked. Linens used for nap time must be taken home on Fridays and returned clean on every Monday. Please label all garments, including bed linens. Nap linens must be sent in a pillowcase. Mats are provided by the center and are sanitized weekly by staff members.
3. Nutrition
Parents need to send a healthy lunch & 2 snacks daily (one for the morning and one for the afternoon). Please label lunch box.
4. Birthdays
Special arrangements may be made in advance with the teacher concerning your child’s birthday. The teacher will add songs, etc. to make this a special time for your child.
5. Health records
Please complete all information on health records. In completing these forms, please keep in mind that the questions we ask are for the purpose of helping us to protect, care for, and give appropriate guidance to the child you are entrusting to us. Please notify us immediately when any of the information changes. (No over the counter medications will be administered).
6. Illness/Absences
Our Learning Lab provides a healthy learning environment. We ask that you keep your child home if they have any of the following symptoms: coughing, runny nose, fever (101 degrees Fahrenheit or above), rapid breathing, stiff neck, or when in conjunction with any other signs of illness, conjunctivitis (pink eye), exposed or open lesions, unusually dark urine and/or gray or white stool, vomiting, diarrhea or any other unusual signs or symptoms of illness.
7. Discipline
* Children shall not be subjected to discipline which is severe, humiliating, or frightening.
*Discipline shall not be associated with food, rest, or toileting.
*Spanking or any other form of physical punishment is prohibited. The “thinking chair” is used for repetitive misbehavior. During this period, a caregiver converses with your child, rules are enforced, questions are asked and the child is encouraged to respond. The interaction between caregiver and child is conducted in a firm, yet positive and caring manner. If misbehavior persists, the parents will be notified and a conference will be scheduled.
8.HOLIDAYS, EARLY RELEASE DAYS AND TEACHER PLANNING DAYS
Our school follows the School Board of Broward County’s school calendar. Please refer to the School Board calendar for holidays, days off, early release days and teacher planning. The center will be closed on national holidays and all days noted yellow-“school and administrative offices closed” and green- “ schools closed”.
9.Tuition
A tuition fee of $400.00 per month per child is due one month in advance. Tuition must be paid online via the School Board of Broward County’s eStore. (See Payment Schedule) If tuition is not received one month in advance a late fee of $20.00 will be added. We look forward to a very happy and successful year. Sincerely,
