The chickens are in for a sunday surprise!
A big box full of veggies, scraps and a few fruits.

Can you believe thatā€¦
Lettuce was not the favorite.
Cucumber was not a favorite.
Spinach was not favored either.
Grapes maybe? No.

Strawberries? Heck yeah!
Apples? Specifically red.. Yep!
Steak scrapes? Eaten right up.
Chicken fried rice? Yes, the chicken was eaten first.

If you ever have leftovers, veggie, fruit or meat scraps, chickens are the best way to dispose of such and they provide you with eggs!

(We always welcome donations for the chickens!)

Yesterday, Thursday September 3, Maple Ridge Farm was hit by the nastiest storm with winds up to 70 mph.

Unfortunately the wind took out 5 of our trees including millions of branches. One of those trees aggressively landed on top of the mini shelter. All four minis are alive and well! Breanne and Debbie are the only ones who ended up with minor injuries. Breanne had a deep laceration on her right hip that needed stitches asap. Debbie ended up with a smaller cut on her face.

After we noticed the tree, the power went out, leading to the discovery that they snapped landing in the pasture with the 2 yearlings. When the rain slowed down we had to urgently get the babies moved to a new pasture.

All is well now and the process of cleaning up the debris begins.

Day 2 is a wrap here at CMHA! Now on to a nice long rainy day! At least there will be no dustā€¦
