The Mighty Hellebore! These are another one of my favorite flowers, mainly because they bloom so early after the snow has melted. When it’s still cold and gray, they remind us that we can withstand the winter and come out better on the other side!

I’ve always thought Fuchsias were so unusual and otherworldly! I bought one in a hanging basket when I lived in SC and within the week a bird made a nest in the middle. And if you know me … you know the plant was sacrificed! After skipping a day to celebrate my sons BD…this is my daily drawing! FYI...This variety of Fuchsia is aptly called "Angels Earrings"

I fell in love with the colors on these prickly flowers! Here’s what I found about this unusual plant. Eryngium maritimum, also called the sea holly, sea eryngo, or sea eryngium, is a perennial species of flowering plant in the carrot family Apiaceae, native to the coasts of most of Europe and the Mediterranean.[2] Its prickly holly-like leaves and compact flower heads give it the appearance of a thistle. Despite its common name, it is not a holly but an umbellifer.

Happy Saturday! Today, my daily drawing features one of my favorite flowers, and it grows in many beautiful colors. The elegant Calla Lily is native to Southern Africa and is known for its trumpet shaped blooms and swordlike leaves. Fun fact…the petals are actually a modified leaf called a spathe and the tiny flowers sit on the spike in the center called a spadix.
