Nobody tells rising junior parents this about Early Decision 👀
Take NC State: apply in their early round without a GPA close to 4.5, and instead of an early yes or no, your application gets moved straight into the Regular Decision pool for another look. (NC State's early round is technically Early Action, not binding Early Decision — but that same "early doesn't always mean early" wrinkle shows up at plenty of true ED schools too.)
Every school handles this a little differently, which is exactly why "just pick one" isn't real advice.
Juniors — this is the year to figure out where your GPA needs to land for the schools on your list, before an Early Decision application is due. DM me and let's build that strategy now, while there's no deadline breathing down your neck.

That's the same thing I tell every family that walks through my door: your student's essay isn't the place to play it safe or write who they think colleges want to see. It's the place to own their actual story — even the messy parts. Especially those.
Admissions officers can tell the difference between a "safe" essay and a real one. Real wins every time.

Mark your calendars! 📅 College Application Week is coming: Oct 19 (7:30am) through Oct 25 (5pm) — fee waivers or reductions at dozens of NC colleges. Here's how it breaks down:

🏛️ Public + NC College Connect — App State, ECU, UNC Charlotte, UNC Greensboro, and the rest of the UNC System schools (GPA-based direct admission)
🏛️ Public, not on NC College Connect — schools like NC A&T, applying the traditional way but still fee-waived this week
🎓 Private + NC College Connect — Meredith, Salem, Queens, and the rest of the independent college list
🎓 Private, not on NC College Connect — Davidson, Elon, and a few others new to this week's list

Whichever path your student's on, this is the week to knock out an application (or a few) without the fee getting in the way. 💛
