Congratulations to Anne Elizabeth Carter, Kindergarten teacher at Oakview Elementary for winning the 2023 Science of Reading Data Dynamo award!

The Data Dynamo Award recognizes the commendable use of data to align a literacy system and maximize student achievement.

According to her school, "Mrs. Carter fully embraced the Science of Reading. Her eagerness is reflected not only in the required work she’s doing with LETRS, but also in her desire to learn more through additional research, podcasts, and support groups. She continuously makes changes in her Kindergarten classroom as she learns and grows as an educator. These changes and her instructional practices have made a significant impact on her students and their achievement."

"The Data Dynamo Award applauds her commendable use of data to align a literacy system and maximize student achievement. Mrs. Carter uses her formative, summative, observational, and mCLASS data to drive her instruction and her students receive the greatest benefit from this practice. At the Beginning of the Year, 62% of Mrs. Carter’s students entered Kindergarten with Below or Well Below Benchmark scores. At the Middle of the Year, 20% of Mrs. Carter’s students were Below or Well Below Benchmark. And at the End Of the Year, 14% of students were Below Benchmark and 0% were Well Below Benchmark. Not only did Mrs. Carter help grow her students who were struggling with foundational reading skills, but she also supported her students who entered Kindergarten with expected foundational skills. Those students demonstrated exceptional growth!"
