Pete the Cat Says… “THIS IS A COOL SCHOOL!”
HSLC is starting off the new school year with a children's book theme! Each classroom has decorated their bulletin board and door to showcase a different book/children's author.
Did you know? Research has found that young children whose parents read to them daily have been exposed to at least 290,000 more words by the time they enter kindergarten than kids who aren’t read to regularly.
Reading daily to your child helps lay the neurological groundwork for language use and literacy. Even the tactile experience of holding a book supports cognitive development.
Fun displays like this help create a print-rich early learning environment! And seeing their own names throughout the school encourages children to recognize letters, notice print, build early literacy skills, and develop a sense of identity and independence.
