🛠️ Building skills through hands-on learning!
Agriculture and Natural Resources Year 2 students at the Eddie Dixon CTE Center recently welcomed Mr. Carl Pipkin as a guest instructor for a hands-on lesson in the safe and proper use of power saws. Students learned how to operate a circular saw, miter saw, and table saw while gaining valuable experience with tools commonly used in agricultural and construction projects.
We are so thankful to Mr. Pipkin for taking the time to share his knowledge and experience with our students. Having community members step into the classroom and share real-world skills makes career and technical education even more meaningful!

Learning medical terminology is more fun when you’re on the hunt! 🔎

Health Science students at the Eddie Dixon CTE Center put their knowledge into action with a medical terminology scavenger hunt. Students worked together and practiced important healthcare vocabulary; all while staying active, engaged, and collaborating with their classmates.

Hands-on learning like this helps students build the knowledge, teamwork, and communication skills they’ll need for future careers in healthcare. 🩺

Students in Advanced Manufacturing are building their skills with the torch cutter, learning how to safely light, adjust, and operate the equipment used for cutting metal. From proper setup to flame control, each step gives students hands-on experience while reinforcing the safe work habits that are essential in the manufacturing industry.
These are the moments when classroom knowledge turns into real-world skills. 🛠️

Safety starts with knowing what to look for! 🔍
Students in our Electrical program put their safety knowledge to the test with a hands-on exploration activity. Their challenge: examine each situation, identify what’s unsafe, and determine how to correct the hazard.
Activities like this help students build the awareness, critical-thinking skills, and safe work habits they’ll need in the electrical field. Learning to spot the danger before the work begins is an important part of becoming a skilled professional!

August 23, 2026—The Marshall County School District will be closed Monday, August 24, 2026 due to impacts from the recent storms. It is never an easy decision to close school, but given the large number of families and staff members without power, we feel it is the best option. School will resume Tuesday, August 25, 2026 and schools will work with the families of those who remain affected by power outages.

🔥 Fire Safety in Action!
Last week, the Holly Springs MS Fire Department visited the Eddie Dixon CTE Center to give our students hands-on training in fire safety. Students learned about fire extinguisher classifications, practiced the PASS method, and put their skills to the test using a training fire extinguisher.
It’s another example of how CTE connects classroom learning with the real-world skills students need to be prepared for the workplace.

Educator Preparation (Ed. Prep) students are putting in the work! After completing a practice Math ACT, students worked together to revisit challenging problems, compare strategies, ask questions, and learn from their mistakes.

For these future educators, ACT prep is about more than a score. It’s an opportunity to strengthen the collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills they’ll one day bring to their own classrooms.

Every challenge is a chance to grow. Every skill is a step toward finding your purpose.

🔥Fire Safety in Action at Eddie Dixon Career and Technical Education Center! 🧯

Today, our students had the opportunity to learn important, real-world fire safety skills during a demonstration with Captain Holmes and the Holly Springs MS Fire Department.

Students learned about fire safety and prevention before getting hands-on experience using fire extinguishers. Experiences like these give our students practical knowledge they can carry with them at school, at home, and in their future careers.

A big thank you to-the Holly Springs Fire Department for taking the time to educate, demonstrate, and help keep our students and community safe!

All Marshall County School District schools will be pausing registration from Wednesday, July 29th through Tuesday, August 4th as our counselors and schools prepare to ensure a successful start to the 2026-2027 School Year! If you have not registered your child yet, please do so by the end of day on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026. Registration will re-open again on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026.
