📚 School Year 2020-2021 📚
Now that parents have chosen their school plan for the Spring semester, there may be families looking for a positive structured environment for their kids to "do" the remote parts of either school plan. I will have several openings in Mrs. P's Class!
We have created a classroom in my home where students are encouraged, supported, helped, and tutored throughout the school day. In addition, they hang out and socialize during their breaks and lunch. Wiffle ball, four square, ping pong, and cross the ocean are just a few of the games we play. I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed getting to know my students this semester!
📧 Please email me ([email protected]) if you are interested! References from current students and their parents are available!

As parents in Wake County are tasked with deciding the best school plan for their children for the 20-21 school year, I am offering academic support and a positive and motivating learning environment to assist middle and high school students with the remote portion of their plan choice.
On Mondays - Thursdays from 9-12, I will facilitate a one-room classroom where students can come to receive in person tutoring and monitoring of their coursework. For those electing Plan B, students would attend during their two weeks of on-line work.
In addition, every afternoon I have math tutoring sessions for individuals or small groups that are dedicated to one specific math curriculum during that hour.
In order to safely follow all COVID-19 CDC precautions, I have 6 slots available per session.
As our “classroom” is set up, I will post pics and will be hosting a “Meet Mrs. Poythress” zoom session soon! Also, read just a bit about me on the About link.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions at all!!!!! [email protected]
Attached is a link to the application. Since there is limited space, assignment will be on a first come first serve basis. If slots fill up, your application fee and deposit will be refunded!
I will be so honored to work with your child to make this school year productive and engaging. Thank you for considering me!!!
Reserve Your Child's Space with Mrs. P Please complete if you would like to hold your spot with the small group or private tutoring that Mrs. Poythress is offering for the 2020-21 school year. Questions? Email [email protected]

Mrs. Sarah Poythress and her husband, Daryl, moved to Holly Springs in 1996 when there was only one stop light and Avent Ferry Road was out in the boonies.
She is the blessed mom of 3 amazing children, Kate (Appalachian State), Andrew (HSHS Junior), and David (HRMS 6th grader).
Most days you will find her working in the yard, building or refinishing furniture, or reading mystery novels. Currently, Mrs. Poythress is an instructor at Wake Technical Community College and has had to adapt to teaching on-line due to the shut-down of schools.
The struggle to connect to her students in that format along with the challenge her own children have faced in their transition to remote learning, she decided to offer supplemental tutoring/teaching/encouraging academic support for WCPSS middle and high school students.
Mrs. Poythress has BS degrees in Education For the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (K-12) and Mathematics. She taught high school math after college and has been teaching High School Equivalency (formerly known as GED) at Wake Tech for the past 7 years.
In an effort to support WCPSS students during Plan B and/or Virtual Academy, Mrs. Poythress will be providing middle and high school students with a positive and intentional place to “do school”. Students will receive in person support, guidance, and monitoring of all coursework in order to help them navigate this new approach to learning.
In addition, Mrs. Poythress will open specific math tutoring hours for individuals or small groups designed to supplement 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math and Math 1, 2, and 3.
As interest and needs become more clear, Mrs. Poythress will be able to create a more concrete schedule. She is initially considering Monday - Thursday, 9:00 - 12:00 for “school” and math tutoring in hourly increments from 12:00 - 3:00.
Mrs. Poythress will adhere to all Covid guidelines.
