Starting the school year with a keepsake we’ll get to look back on all year long. 🍎

Our monthly handprint art is a teacher-directed activity that gives each child one-on-one time to create, follow simple directions, and explore art in a meaningful way. By the end of the year, these little handprints will tell a story of just how much they’ve grown.

After a few big days of transition, our classrooms are settling into their rhythm and the learning is in full swing.

Our 2/3 class was busy this morning with hands-on, play-based learning—sorting by color and shape, scooping and transferring, matching, exploring different textures, and working alongside friends.

What looks like play is building so much: fine-motor strength, hand-eye coordination, early math and sorting skills, concentration, problem-solving, language development, and independence. Even sharing materials and working beside a friend helps strengthen important social skills.

Little hands are busy doing some BIG learning.

Writing Lessons in Action ✏️

Our teacher-directed writing activities are an important part of our classroom rotation. Working in smaller groups gives each child the individual attention, time, and guidance they need as they build early literacy skills.

During this time, we practice recognizing and dictating the letters in their names, identifying colors and shapes, strengthening pencil control and fine-motor skills, and building confidence through conversation and repetition.

These more intimate learning moments allow our teachers to meet each child where they are, encourage language development, and make early writing feel meaningful and fun.

Small groups, intentional teaching, BIG learning.

Meet Mrs. Chanelle....
We are so excited to introduce the newest member of our Infant & Toddler team! Please join us in giving her a warm Meadowlark welcome. We know she's going to bring so much love, patience, and enthusiasm to our littlest learners, and we can't wait for our families to get to know her. We're so happy to have you on the team! 💛🌿

My name is Mrs. Chanelle, and I am Meadowlark Centro Vida’s newest Infant-Toddler Teacher. With 15 years of experience working with children and families, I am passionate about creating nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support each child’s unique growth. I will also graduate with my Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education later this year.

The lesson in patience paid off. 🍑 He had his eye on this peach, waiting for it to ripen, and when it was finally ready, he proudly came to show me before enjoying every last bite.

Meet Miss Denise 💛

You may have already seen Miss Denise around campus! She'll be joining our 3-year-old classroom, where she'll be filling in for Ms. Katrina during her maternity leave.

Miss Denise comes to us with previous preschool experience and recently graduated from Sacramento State. She is excited to gain even more hands-on experience while building relationships with our students and families.

When asked what she's is most excited about, she shared that she loves circle time and is looking forward to watching the children learn, grow, and reach new milestones each day.

We're so excited to have Miss Denise on the Meadowlark team be sure to say hello when you see her.

🐣 They're hatching! 🐣

One of the most exciting days....our chicks are beginning to hatch! Watching this process firsthand gives children a rare opportunity to witness the incredible miracle of life while learning through real-life observation.

Why is this such a valuable learning experience?
🐥 Teaches children about the life cycle from egg to chick.
🔍 Encourages curiosity, observation, and asking thoughtful questions.
⏳ Builds patience as children learn that nature unfolds in its own time.
❤️ Fosters empathy and respect for living things.
🧠 Introduces early science concepts through a hands-on experience they'll never forget.

The excitement in our classroom is contagious, and we can't wait to welcome the rest of our fluffy little friends as they make their way into the world. Stay tuned for more chick updates! 🐣💛🌱

Started as toddlers... now they're ready for their next big adventure....

It feels like just yesterday these sweet little babies walked through our doors, fresh from celebrating their second birthdays. We've watched them find their voices, build friendships, gain confidence, wipe away tears, celebrate victories, and grow into kind, curious, capable little learners.

In just a few short weeks, they'll be heading off to their new schools. While our hearts aren't quite ready to let them go, we couldn't be prouder of the incredible children they've become.

What looks like a simple activity is actually packed with meaningful learning. Using tongs to place pom-poms onto pool noodles strengthens the small muscles in the hands and fingers that children will later use for writing, drawing, buttoning, and other everyday tasks.

This invitation to play also encourages:

•Fine motor development

•Hand-eye coordination

•Bilateral coordination (using both hands together)

•Grip strength and control

•Focus, patience, and problem-solving

At two years old, children learn best through hands-on, playful experiences. Every squeeze, reach, and carefully placed pom-pom is helping build the foundation for future independence and early academic success-all while having fun!

Writing is part of our daily routine, even for our youngest learners. At 2 years old, C.A. is building the foundation for future literacy through everyday opportunities to explore writing.

You may notice he chose to work on his tummy instead of sitting at a table-and that's okay! We embrace flexible seating, allowing children to work in the position where they feel most comfortable and engaged. Working on the floor can help strengthen the shoulders, core, and fine motor muscles needed for writing while supporting focus and independence.

At this age, writing isn't about perfect letters. It's about developing pencil grip, hand strength, coordination, and confidence. Every scribble, line, and mark is an important step toward becoming a writer.

Sometimes the best learning happens when children are comfortable, curious, and free to learn in the way that works best for them.
