The Gavilan Board of Trustees welcomes public comments at meetings. Attendees must be present to make a public comment and will be provided with a form at the meeting to submit notice.
If you have a specific agenda item you would like to speak to, please indicate this on the form, and you will be called on just before the Board taking up that agenda item. An individual may make public comments on a given agenda item only once. Those who wish to address the Board on a non-agenda item may do so during the time designated for general public comments and should also turn in a speaker card at the beginning of the meeting.
Based on Board Policy 2350, public comments will be timed and are limited to 3 minutes per speaker. If there are many speakers on a single item, the Board may further reduce this time and may place a limit on the total time allocated for public comment. Twenty minutes shall be the maximum time for public speakers on a single item, regardless of the number of speakers at any board meeting. At the discretion of the Chair, these time limits may be extended.
Members of the Board may not engage in discussion about items not on the agenda, but we thank you for taking the time to share your views with us.................................................................................................................................
Additional Guidelines Include:
*(Senate Bill 1100 Section 54957.95) This amendment to the Brown Act states that when a member of the public is disruptive, a governing body must warn them that their behavior is disruptive. If the member of the public does not promptly cease their behavior, the governing body's presiding member or their designee may order their removal..............................................................................................................................................
