What a great first week back at HCS! ❤️

We kicked off the school year together with our first chapel, where Principal Dressen welcomed students and Mr. Mitchell introduced our theme for the year: Faith That Moves, based on Micah 6:8.

“Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.”

We’re excited to see how this theme takes shape throughout the year as our students learn what it looks like to put their faith into action each day.

Do you know someone who would be a great fit for Hollandale Christian School? HCS is a K–8 school located between Austin and Albert Lea, serving approximately 100 students from surrounding communities. We're seeking individuals who are grounded in their faith, passionate about Christian education, and excited to invest in the lives of students.

📚 Principal (Full-Time)
We're seeking a principal who is excited to lead a Christ-centered school community! The ideal candidate will be a servant leader who partners well with families, supports and encourages staff, communicates effectively, and is administratively gifted. This individual will help guide the spiritual, academic, and organizational health of the school while keeping Christ at the center of all we do.

🏃 Physical Education Teacher (Part-Time, 8–10 hours/week)
We're seeking someone who enjoys working with students and can help foster a positive, active learning environment. A teaching license is not required, though experience leading and instructing groups of children is preferred.

🍎 Substitute Teachers
Have a flexible schedule and enjoy working with kids? We're always looking for dependable substitute teachers to help when staff members are away. A teaching license is not required.

The search for the next principal of Hollandale Christian School is still underway. As a school community, we’re continuing to pray that God would clearly open the door for the right person to shepherd HCS in this next season.

HCS is a K–8 school in southern Minnesota, located between Austin and Albert Lea, serving approximately 100 students from surrounding communities.

The 7th & 8th graders had a great time at the softball tournament hosted by St. Paul's Lutheran School, Latimer, IA. It was some tight competition all around! Congratulations to North Iowa Christian School on taking 1st place.

We were especially proud of the way our students encouraged each other and played as a team. It’s always fun to compete, but even better to see Christ-like character on display.

A special thank you to Andy Drenth, Adam Wacholz, and Brian Brouwer for coaching, pitching, and base coaching—we appreciate you! And thank you to all the fans who braved the chilly weather to cheer the team on!

Last Friday, our 8th graders took over the kitchen and prepared and served a “bonus hot lunch” for students and staff.

The menu included sloppy joes, cheesy potatoes, apple slices with caramel, and a special pudding dessert. Everything was delicious, and it was so great to see our students work together and serve in such a practical way.

A BIG thank you to Tom Theesfeld for sharing his love of cooking and providing this experience for our students.

What an amazing show! Our students did an incredible job bringing the AmeriKids musical to life. They didn’t just sing, dance, and act—they worked together to share a message about the faith that shaped our nation. We’re so proud of each one of them and the effort they put in. Well done!

A heartfelt thank you to Heidi VanWingerden Anderson for directing the production. We are so grateful for the many hours she poured into working with the students and bringing all the pieces together behind the scenes.

We’re also thankful to God for the blessing of living in this country and to all the brave men & women who have played a part in protecting our freedom to share and live out our faith. Happy 250th Birthday, America!
