Guardianship is one way to support an adult who can no longer make important decisions on their own. A court may appoint someone to help with areas like medical care, personal safety, or finances. Power of attorney works differently because the person must understand the decision and agree to it. Guardianship is typically only considered when that understanding is no longer there.

🪜 “I’m fine” isn’t a fall prevention plan.

We love you. We believe you.

We also think you don’t need to be changing the smoke detector battery by yourself.

Ask for help before it’s urgent.

The details of your life—your favorite song, a poem you loved—matter more than you know.

When those choices are made with care, your goodbye becomes a reflection of who you are.

Preplanning lets your voice carry forward, even when you are no longer here to speak.

We've all had those "oops" moments that linger. Maybe you forgot to bring your dish to the potluck, missed an important call, or said something that came out wrong. Regret has a way of sticking around, but here's the silver lining: it's actually proof you care.

When regret shows up, try saying it out loud. "I wish I'd handled that better." It helps. Then give yourself some credit. You were doing your best with what you knew at the time. That's all any of us can do. Learn from it, set it down, and move forward a little wiser than before.

Muscles like an early invite. When protein shows up only at dinner, there’s a long stretch with very little support. Breakfast is often light, which seems harmless but adds up over time. Adding eggs, yogurt, or nut butter in the morning gives muscles something to work with early and helps support strength and balance later on. Muscles tend to behave better when they’re fed sooner.

Ever feel stuck on repeat? Your mind won't slow down, you're in a funk, nothing seems right. That's when you may want to unplug.

Take a real break. Go outside. Rinse your hands with cool water. Count the green things in the room. A few minutes away and suddenly things can click back into place. Sometimes the best thing you can do is step away for a minute.

You’ve made decisions your whole life. You don’t need anyone telling you how to live now.

Aging in place is just another choice. One that lets you stay where you feel most like yourself.

That might mean:
✔️ Rearranging the kitchen so everything’s in reach
✔️ Keeping your routine exactly how you like it
✔️ Bringing in help on your terms, not someone else’s

Our blog walks through real ways to stay in control and stay put. Take a look, and decide what fits: https://app.pyllrs.com/local/MI/Holland/seniors/houseAndHome/aging-in-place
