Current Study

Mother’s Milk for Michigan Infants (MMMI) is a group of nurse researchers at Hope College interested in learning if our infant scales can correctly measure how much your baby eats and if a mother weighs her infant, how close is that weight to the research staff. Our current study is called Accuracy and Precision of Infant Test Weights for Breast Milk Bottle Feeding.

We are looking for mothers that meet the following criteria:

Reside in West Michigan.

18 years or older.

Are currently bottle feeding breast milk to their baby.

Baby has no history of health problems or reflux.

We are asking mothers interested in participating to:

Complete a short online eligibility survey (2-3 minutes).

Review a consent document.

If a mother chooses to consent, she is asked to complete another short survey about mom and baby (5 minutes).

Schedule an appointment to weigh and feed a bottle of her breast milk to her baby.

Give a small breast milk sample (3 mL).

Mothers who choose to participate will be given a copy of their results.

This study has been approved by the Hope College Human Subjects Review Board.
