A new preschool opportunity is opening for Ottawa Area families with 3-year-olds.

Beginning this school year, OAISD is launching Michigan's Strong Beginnings program at the Tri-Cities Family YMCA in Grand Haven, giving eligible children access to free, high-quality prekindergarten. The new program gives children an extra year to learn through play, build friendships, and develop the skills that prepare them for kindergarten.

This is the first Strong Beginnings location in Ottawa Area, with hopes to expand access to more families over time.

Help us make sure every student starts the school year with the supplies they need! Thank you to Heart of West Michigan United Way for supporting our students with Stuff the Bus school supply drive.

The drive runs July 27–August 6, and donations of school supplies can be dropped off at any Fifth Third Bank branch in Allegan, Ottawa, or Kent counties.

Donated supplies will support students at the Ottawa Area Center (OAC), Young Adult Services (YAS), Sheldon Pines School, and local school districts. Every donation makes a difference!

Nearly 300 FuturePREPd Ottawa Area ISD students partnered with local businesses and organizations to solve real-world challenges while building communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and confidence that will serve them long after summer ends.

"Watching these students step entirely out of their comfort zones was incredibly rewarding," said instructor Jason Hicks.
