John and Nancy Smith have been leading teams to Haiti since the devastating earthquake of 2010. They have organized the building of schools, churches (which really serve as 24/7 community centers. . .for worship, for school classrooms, for shelter), orphanage buildings, and shower/toilet facilities. They have organized mobile medical and dental clinics for under- or never-served remote villages. They provide clean-water training and equipment, Covid-education and PPE, and ongoing wellness and medical care for an orphanage in Roseaux and and elder care facility in Jeremie. Sponsorships for K-12-age children otherwise unable to attend are provided, as is support for especially promising college age young adults. John and Nancy have a loyal and trusted Haitian ground crew that help organize and execute these and other projects. Accountability is quite high, and very nearly 100% of Jeremie Rising's funds are applied to projects on the ground. All travel expenses are paid by the Smiths and team members. Jeremie Rising is finally building a school adjacent to the church we built in David Village, Haiti! It has been a long time coming, but we now have all the funding to begin construction in a few weeks and plan to complete the 6-room school by the start of classes this fall! These "before" photos tell it all.
As a bonus for all school children, we have an Amazon Wish List for school supplies for these 300 kids. Check it out! All items are shipped to Venice, Florida at the airplane hanger where the Agape flights sends our goods every two weeks! Thank you for any help you can give.
