Willow is a delightful wintering gardening moment and our beautiful basketry willow at the WCS farm is ready for harvest. Would you like to come join?

Learn how to harvest and sort and grow willow for basketry. For your time helping harvest the willow, you will receive 10 willow cuttings to start your own patch of basketry willow at home!

Additionally, for the first time this year, we will be selling the green/freshly harvested willow rods to anyone interested. The bundles will be sold at $7/lb. Once taken home, they will need to be dried and stored, but in 6 months will be in perfect weaving condition. Payment will be taken through the website, so please bring a phone that is capable of accessing the internet at the farm.

The two harvesting dates will be January 4th, and January 15th. We will begin at 9 am and end when the willow is finished being harvested. Please dress warm, bring sharp clippers (if you have them), and bring snacks/hydration.

We look forward to harvesting our beautiful willow with you all.

$65 Cattail Basket Weaving class Saturday, November 15th 9AM-5PM. Register here: https://tinyurl.com/yyf4hyx9

What do the practice of Biodynamic Farming (What we practice as a Waldorf farming school) and Foraged Craft have in common?

Both meet nature in step with the rhythm of the whole in mind. Materials harvested at the right time, in line with the seasons and the plants, to create a beneficial and mutual relationship for both the earth and the people on it. We are fortunate enough to have an abundance of materials in our parks and own backyards that can be used to make useful and beautiful objects in our everyday lives.

We are excited to be hosting one our WCS biodynamic farmers, Lydia Murdock, who is a practitioner of foraged and wild craft.

In this workshop she will teach about the cycle of harvesting, drying, soaking and weaving as you make your own small cattail basket to take home.

Come and get more deeply connected with nature and members of your community who want to forage and craft with you!

(This class is being held through the Wasatch Family Foundation)

Tonight - Tuesday September 23rd at 6:30pm for all parents and the wider community.

How does a Waldorf education meet the needs of children today? Come have a listen!

Did you know Wasatch Charter School is part of the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education, one of only about 60 schools nationwide to hold this designation.

We are honored to welcome Liz Beaven, Executive Director of the Alliance, to our community for three days. During her visit, Liz will spend time with our faculty, staff, and students, and she has graciously offered to meet with our families this evening. She will speak about how Waldorf education supports healthy child development in the myriad ways it connects.
