Our sensory bin is another fun play center that the kids love! Sensory bins provide hands-on, tactile play. Kids are engaged as they are using multiple senses at the same time. Learning is happening as they explore and manipulate various materials. They are improving fine motor skills that are needed for pencil grip and handwriting control. When they are joined by other students, they are developing social skills: taking turns, teamwork, communication. Depending on the set up, they also have the opportunity to practice other skills such as sorting, matching, creating, role-playing, retelling, writing, counting, number sense, identifying alphabet letters, beginning sounds, and sight words, and more. Here are some of our sensory bin set ups from this year.
