🔥 CAMPFIRE AND LEGENDS 🔥

Join us on August 22nd 7pm-9pm for an evening of Haudenosaunee stories! Visitors will get to hear stories from renowned storytellers David Fadden and Arihhonni David, enjoy s'mores and strawberry drink, and visit the cultural center and gift shop! This event is open to everyone!

Please bring your own chairs/blankets as seating is limited, extra sweaters in case it gets cold, and bug spray for the pesky mosquitos 🦟

Admission will be at the time of the event - no pre-registration is required.
Seniors (65+) - $7
Adults - $10
Kids (13 and younger) - $5

We are proud to spotlight Six Nations Iroquois Cultural Center, a 2025 Generous Acts grantee.

Funding supported special storytelling programming by Dave Fadden aimed at dispelling misconceptions and educating the public about the Haudenosaunee. Highlights included hosting 90 guests for a campfire storytelling night and welcoming the Native North American Travelling College for social songs and dances.

We are honored to support impactful community learning across the Adirondack region.

Seed saving taught me that “finished flowering” and “ready to collect” are definitely not the same thing 🌻 For these 7 seeds, I wait for clear signs of maturity:
🫘 Bean and pea pods should become dry rather than staying green and fleshy
🥬 Lettuce seed needs watching closely because mature seeds can blow away quickly
🌱 Radish pods should dry before harvesting, but I try to catch them before they split open
🌿 Cilantro seeds turn tan to brown as they mature
🌱 Dill seed heads become dry and the seeds begin loosening easily
🌻 Sunflowers are much further along when the back of the flower head turns yellow-brown and the seeds are plump
🫙 Everything gets dried thoroughly before I seal it for storage
I also prefer saving seed from open-pollinated varieties when I want plants similar to the parent. Hybrids can produce very different offspring.
