Cougar Feeder Girls Basketball

Cougar Feeder Girls Basketball is the official girls youth travel basketball program for Conant High School.

Our program offers 4th–8th grade teams and provides players with an advanced environment to help prepare them to be successful student-athletes.

Meet Coach Bob Klages, our Head Coach for 5th grade.

Bob's coaching roots go back 15 years to SAA, and he's spent the last 10 building our Cougars program. What keeps him coming back: watching girls fall in love with the game and build the confidence to match.

His advice to his players: "Keep your head up — see the basket, see your teammates."

Meet Coach Alyssa Orozco, our new Assistant Coach for 8th grade.

A recent grad and player at Carthage College, Alyssa has so many coaches along the way who helped shape how she sees the game. Now she's stepping into that role, ready to do the same for our girls.

Her advice to her players says it all: "Give it your all and have fun."

New season, new coach for 7th grade.
Say hey to Lauren Day, who's been playing this game for nearly two decades!

She's played basketball for almost 20 years, coaches park district kids on the side, and this season she's bringing all of it to our 7th grade team.

The message she repeats to every player: defense wins games — never give up. That's the kind of coaching that keeps girls in the game and loving it.

Cougar Feeder Girls Basketball is opening 4th grade tryouts for the 2026–27 season on August 15 and 16.

This program is built for girls who’ve already spent a season or two building their game and are ready for consistent coaching, real competition, and a team who pushes them to grow.

It’s a local travel program that feeds directly into Conant High School basketball, so this is where the foundation gets built.

What she’ll get:
• Coaches who know the game and know how to develop young players
• A full season of practices, league games, and tournaments
• A community of families who show up for each other

Tryouts are two days, August 15 and 16. Registration is required before she can try out.

Radio broadcaster by day, 8th grade head coach this season.
Say hello to Coach Jim Memolo!

Jim has coached most of his adult life, going back to a college ask he never put down.

Off the bench he's calling games as a radio broadcaster and still playing ball himself. What he tells his players sticks: every day is a chance to see how good you can be, in basketball and in life.
