Armstrong PTA is in need of several volunteers to help with Vision and Hearing screening on Wednesday, November 6. 2 shifts are available from 9-12 and 12:30-1:30. Please contact Amy Rauch at [email protected] if you are able to help.

The Armstrong PTA wants to thank all the volunteers who helped for both the Affy Tapple sale and the Halloween Dance. The events would not have been successful without our volunteers.

During October, we raised over $1,800 dollars from the Affy Tapple sale. It was a huge success and we are very thankful for everyone who participated in this fun October treat.

The Halloween Dance was a huge success with over 200 kids showing up in adorable and creative costumes. All the kids who came had a blast and we appreciate the parents taking the time out of their Friday night and coming. We raised over $600 dollars which was amazing and everyone should be so proud.

Thank you again so much and let’s continue to be Champions on Fundraising together.

It is time to begin placing nominations for next year’s PTA officers. This is an important task because it sets the leadership for PTA in the coming year. Take a moment to consider the direction you would like PTA to take next year, as well as who can make that happen.

Becoming involved in the PTA is an excellent way to support your children in their education! Nominate a friend, a neighbor, or even yourself (Who knows better than YOU, what a great job YOU would do?)

Positions available are:

President

Vice President

Treasurer

Recording Secretary

Corresponding Secretary

Each of these positions carries a one-year term and an individual can serve no more than two consecutive terms.

Note: Officers must be PTA members and are required to attend training classes.

No one can be nominated without his or her consent, and all nominations will be handled confidentially. Self-nominations are welcome. A person can also be nominated for multiple positions. Of course, a person would only be elected for one position through the school year.

Please return the nominations form to the school office by Thursday, February 21st.

For more details, please visit the PTA page

Please note this applies to tomorrow, Friday February 1

We regret to inform you that we will be closing schools again on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019. Our bus company First Student, notified us today that despite working on them all day, they were unable to start a large number of buses due to the extremely cold conditions.

District 54 buses about 11,500 students every day. With the temperatures below 0 degrees tonight, they do not feel certain that the buses will start tomorrow morning.

Therefore, we are erring on the side of caution and safety and cancelling school tomorrow. While not all students take the bus, we felt it unfair to have school when many students would not be able to attend.

School District 54

Stay safe and warm.

Due to the dangerously cold wind chill, District 54 is cancelling all after-school and evening activities today, Jan. 29. This does not include the after-school childcare programs at our schools run by the park districts and YMCA.

In addition, District 54 schools and the Rafferty Center will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Thursday, Jan. 31. After-school and evening activities are also cancelled on Jan. 30 and 31, including the Open Enrollment Fair. When schools are closed for a full day, the child care programs are also cancelled at our schools.

The decision to close school is not one we make lightly. Our top concern is whether we believe the more than 15,000 students we serve and our employees can get to school safely. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning until noon Thursday, which calls for wind chill values as low as -55.
