As we prep the ti leaves from this year’s race for the next, we want to thank all of the racers for making the journey to our boathouse and all of our boathouse volunteers for helping to make this a great weekend of community. Whether you were on a kayak, outrigger, SUP or prone paddle, we celebrate your passion for the water.

HCCB/Ke Aloha Outrigger welcome all to the Na ‘Ohana o Ke Kai (Families of the Ocean) Festival as part of City of Water Day 2026! This year’s theme, Living with Water, will celebrate Pacific Island cultures and how they have thrived because of their connection to the ocean.

Our program starts at 9:00AM on Saturday, July 25 with a beach and shoreline cleanup of Hoboken Cove and Maxwell Place Park. We will provide the bags and cleanup equipment. Just be sure to wear sturdy shoes for the rocky areas and your reusable water bottle for hydration.

Following the beach cleanup, will be the opening of our Festival from 10AM to 4PM featuring Hawaiian and Pacific Island themed arts and crafts, educational programming, hula and outrigger canoeing showing how water is ingrained in Pacific Islanders culture.

This event is in conjunction with Hoboken Cove Community Boathouse, Fund for a Better Waterfront, and Resilience Paddle Sports who will also feature a variety of activities in Hoboken’s Maxwell Place Park.

Now in its 19th year, City of Water Day — taking place this year on Saturday, July 25 — is a region-wide day organized by Waterfront Alliance and New York–New Jersey Harbor & Estuary Program (HEP), to champion a climate-resilient New York and New Jersey harbor.

Ke Aloha Outrigger is bringing our beach vibes to Downtown Boathouse at Pier 26 this weekend! 🏖️

HCCB/Ke Aloha Outrigger is excited to bring the outrigger canoe experience to Downtown Boathouse this Saturday from 1-3PM. The culturally rich outrigger canoe has its roots in the Pacific Islands and were the types of ocean going vessels that allowed for the migration of the peoples of the Pacific.

Ke Aloha will be offering a short land instruction followed by on water sessions. The entire session will be about 30 minutes. Just bring water, sunscreen, clothes you don’t mind getting wet and your aloha spirit. If you’re lucky, you may catch a spontaneous Hawaiian chant for the full experience! Open to ages 12 and up.

Pre-orders for shirts will be taken from April 1st through May 15th. All pre-orders will be available for pickup on race day, August 1-2.

Race registration is open for all divisions including outrigger canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddle and surfskis.
