Sensory play
Sensory play is a fun way to engage children in various activities that stimulates their senses: touch, smell, sight, hearing and taste. These activities facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. Early exploration through the use of senses builds a child's curiosity for the world around them, has therapeutic benefits, improves fine and gross motor skills, helps build vocabulary and communication skills, builds social skills and gets their problem solving skills kicking. Each class at Hugs & Bugs Club has different sensory activities for children to explore inspired by various children's books. We provide a fun environment where children can discover, explore, play and learn together. Each workshop activity is created to encourage children to socialize and take notice of all their senses and have tons of fun! Early socialization is an important developmental tool which teaches children how to move comfortably among social groups and cope with other children, manage stress, resolve conflict, learn language skills, and gain independence and self-confidence. Hugs and Bugs Club limits the number of children in a class to 8 in order to encourage bonding with peers. We also believe in individual exploration and encourage our mommy's, daddy's and caregivers to take a step back and enjoy watching their little ones explore in amazement. This action builds self-confidence and fires up their curiosity to investigate every little thing, which in turn gets those neurons connecting. Research shows that a child learns more and benefits greater from individual exploration than in a group/teacher led setting. Therefore, little ones are given the opportunity to choose for themselves which activity to explore and what to create or world to build with the materials. Hugs & Bugs Club is their place to get messy and have a fun learning experience with their friends. Plus, how cool would it be for kids to get messy in a tub of rainbow colored spaghetti with a friend or two and not have to worry about the clean up, especially the noodles on the ceiling! Sign language reinforces children's current communication skills as well as develop more of those fine motor skills, build vocabulary and increase their IQ. It also eases communication frustrations and decreases tantrums because little ones can tell you what they need and want with sign language far earlier than with speech. More importantly, it's a wonderful bonding experience. Hugs & Bugs Club incorporates American Sign Language (ASL) into every class. New signs are taught and repeated throughout the semester. Cool little fact about our name: Hugs & Bugs Club incorporates one of our favorite signs: bug. Hugs & Bugs Club invites you and your little one to have a messy fun time with us!
