WAA - the WCPR Alumni Association

Hello everyone,

We'd like to thank everyone who was able to join us at our most recent event, the L*z Zepplin concert at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City. We certainly had a blast!

We'd also like to invite you to a very informal gathering that will be taking place on WCPR's actual 65th birthday, December 7th!
Please join us at the Ale House on 11th & Willow in Hoboken as we have a toast to WCPR around 4PM! No registration required, just just pop in and join us as we reminisce and celebrate for a quick round or two!

Many of us were also planning on going to the Stevens Alumni Association Holiday Party from 6-8PM at The Shepherd & The Knucklehead at 1313 Willow in Hoboken. If you can't join us for either event, but still want to be a part of the festivities as our favorite radio station reaches retirement age, then be on the lookout as we are currently putting together something to celebrate both the station and our scholarship updates and award winners sometime in early 2025. Keep an eye out for more details soon!

Join us for a Pizza Meet & Greet with the current station members from 3PM in the Bayard building, where the station is currently located. Following, there will be a Happy Hour at Farside Tavern.

Today is a day that will live in infamy as we celebrate 62 years of broadcasting history from Castle Point! Happy Birthday WCPR - Castle Point Radio! #TBT Did you know there used to be a bar on campus? Yes, you heard correctly! Between 1974-1983 the Colonel John’s cafe located on the first floor of the Howe Center was known as Colonel John’s Rathskeller, affectionately called “The Rat” by most Stevens students. “The Rat “ was the campus pub and served as the hub for numerous social activities. The Stevens radio station WCPR would often book bands, and host parties there, but the annual Halloween costume party was the big event. Students would come dressed up and ready to boogie on the dance floor. Alum Paul Porzio's still broadcasting, and his show Eclectic Hours will be celebrating its 25th anniversary coming up!

Drizzly weather didn't stop us from having a good time while watching UHF with some of the current WCPR students.
