Christopher Mbonu ’22 M.S. ’26 Ph.D. has been selected for the inaugural class of the American Chemical Society (ACS) PMSE Emerging Professional Scholars! 🎓✨
This elite national distinction is awarded to just 15 Ph.D. candidates and postdoctoral researchers across the United States working at the forefront of polymer science and materials engineering.
As part of this recognition, Dr. Mbonu has been invited to present at the ACS PMSE Emerging Professionals Symposium during the ACS Fall 2026 Meeting in Chicago, where he will engage with leading researchers and contribute to important scientific dialogue in the field.

From labs and internships to leadership and service, Phillip Bone and Alwin John have made the most of their Stevens journeys. Now, they’re taking the Commencement stage as this year’s elected student speakers 🎓
Bone, of St. Louis, Missouri, explored research across several Stevens labs while gaining industry experience with . As captain of the men’s volleyball team, he helped lead Stevens to four consecutive MAC championships and was named MAC Rookie of the Year during his first season. He graduates from Stevens with a Bachelor of Engineering in biomedical engineering.
John, of Kollam, Kerala, India, found community and purpose through her work in the Office of the Provost, involvement in student organizations and volunteer efforts across campus. She also served as a strategic planning AI intern with the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, applying AI and data-driven analysis to support policy and operational decision-making. She graduates from Stevens with a Master of Science in information systems.
