Hi everyone, my name is Anthony Watt, and I’m honored to step into the role of Chair for the Counseling Department here at Hobe Sound Bible College.

Whether you’re already part of the program or just beginning to explore your options, I want to give you a sense of what you can expect moving forward. I come from a clinical counseling background and most recently served as the clinical director of a counseling agency, where I led a team of therapists and worked directly with clients facing challenges such as trauma, addiction, anxiety, and family dynamics.

That real-world experience shapes how I approach the classroom. My goal is to help you grow not just academically, but personally and spiritually as well.

This fall, you’ll notice an emphasis on academic, personal and spiritual development. I’m currently updating the syllabi to ensure our coursework reflects the needs of today’s counseling field. The assignments will encourage both skill and character formation. Expect an engaging blend of lecture, discussion, and practical tools.

My hope is to cultivate a program that equips you to serve with wisdom, integrity, and compassion, both in the office and in life. I hope this department becomes a place where you feel challenged, supported, and equipped to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

We’re entering a powerful new chapter as Mr. Watt, a professional clinical counselor, takes the lead as Program Chair, while Dr. Dewhurst, a psychologist, shifts into a supportive role, focusing on online instruction in the Master’s in Counseling program.

Their combined expertise strengthens our program, blending counseling and psychological perspectives to equip students for impactful work in the field.

We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Anthony Watt as the new Counseling Department Chair at Hobe Sound Bible College starting in June 2025!

Anthony brings nearly a decade of experience in the counseling field, holding both Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) credentials. With a B.A. in Cross-Cultural Missions & Pastoral Ministry from Allegheny Wesleyan College and an M.A.Ed. in Clinical Counseling from Malone University, he has dedicated his career to helping others find hope in Christ and healing.

Most recently, Anthony has served as the Clinical Director at Family Recovery Center in Lisbon, OH, and he is eager to start this new chapter here at HSBC of shaping the next generation of Christian counselors to be effective communicators in a hurting world.

Anthony has been happily married to his wife, Larisa, for five years, and they are proud parents to Michael (3) and Spencer (6 months). The Watt family is moving from Salem, OH, where they have been an active part of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. Beyond counseling, Anthony enjoys cars and shooting sports.
