I would like to thank everyone who attended the Phi Theta Kappa - New Mexico Junior College induction ceremony last night for the 2023 inductees. The inductees were honored and the guest speaker Dr. Kenneth Reed was truly inspiring. It was a great night.

Hello everyone!
I am excited to officially announce that the PTK Induction Ceremony for new members is going to be held in Heidel Hall room 203 on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 6pm. All current PTK members, friends, and family are welcome to join us to celebrate the new inductees! For those of you who may not know me, I am Professor Sandra Thompson and I am the advisor for PTK. Hi Everyone,

I hope each of you have been well. Now that classes have started for the semester, I wanted to share a couple of important updates with the group.

Firstly, for anyone that may be interested, there was a recent meeting held with David Weathers, CEO of PIMA Oilfield/Environmental Services. It was shared that they are looking for good entry-level employees for their environmental operations. If anyone is interested or knows someone that is, please contact me via Canvas or [email protected] and I can share further info.

There has recently been a change in advisors for our PTK chapter. The new and current advisors are now Prof. Roene Neu and Prof. Sandra Thompson. I will still be assisting with the transition this semester, but they are now your points of contacts for the chapter. I have enjoyed working with each of you over time.

I believe those are the major points for now. Your new advisors will touch base with upcoming meeting dates, etc. that come about. Please reach out if you have any questions.

I hope you had a Happy 4th of July, PTK members 🇺🇸! Time is passing quickly it seems, and the Fall semester will be here before we know it! With that being said, we are planning to resume our meetings at the end of August and I encourage you to think of topics or activities for discussion.

Some examples might include: fundraising, PTK Edge trainings, community engagement/volunteerism. We’ve participated in each of these in the past. Also, if anyone is interested in becoming a PTK officer (e.g. President or Secretary) for our chapter, we will discuss it then.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I will touch base again soon!

These self-paced modules can be used for a variety of needs, such as workforce preparation (e.g. resume/cover letter building) and workplace skills development.

Congratulations to Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society Member Alexandria (Ally) Penick who was recognized at the April 14th NMJC Board meeting.

She was selected to the 2022 PTK All-State Academic Team in New Mexico, in recognition of scholarly achievements of students enrolled in New Mexico’s Community & Junior Colleges. We are so proud of your accomplishments!

Potential/New PTK Members,

We will be holding an orientation meeting on Wednesday, March 30th, from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in Heidel Hall (Room 203).

It will not only be an opportunity to formally ask questions about the organization and its benefits, but also to start meeting with new Psi Theta members regarding the Spring induction ceremony on April 22nd. We hope to see you there!
