HHS Choirs have had a busy semester!

In the last month HHS choirs presented 3 choirs at MPA (a new record for Mr. Colson): HHS A Ca****la Choir, HHS Combined Men’s Choir, and HHS Combined Treble Choir. At MPA A Ca****la choir received Sweep Stakes (all superior ratings)! HHS Treble Choirs received Sweep Stakes as well. HHS Combined Men’s Choir, the first in over a decade, presented and received three superior ratings (I’s) and one excellent rating (II’s).

HHS A Ca****la choir qualified and competed at NMAA State Choir contest this last Wednesday in Albuquerque NM. They spent weeks working harder than ever doing their best to raise the standard with the goal of soaring higher in the ranks. After hours and hours of added rehearsals, they came together as an ensemble unlike they’ve experienced before. They walked off stage with pride and love in their hearts for each other an their hard work. Without knowing their scores they knew they knew they at least performed better than they ever had.

A Ca****la choir did indeed score higher than they ever have at state placing 6th with a composite score of 93.2 with only a decimal point differential for 5th. Competition was steep and these students performed beautifully!

We are beyond proud of them and look forward to continued onward and upward trajectory for the choir program here in Hobbs! Go Eagles!
