With school starting, I would love ti share how we learn ⭐️ We learn through our “Story of the Day” ❤️
At Sprinkles Child Care, we believe that learning can happen through stories, play, and everyday experiences! 📚✨
Each day, we choose a special Story of the Day that connects with our weekly theme. The story gives the children an opportunity to build early literacy skills while also inspiring hands-on activities and meaningful conversations.
As we read, the children practice:
📖 Listening and following along with a story
🗣️ Learning new vocabulary and expressing their ideas
👀 Looking at pictures and making observations
🧠 Predicting what might happen next
🔤 Recognizing letters, sounds, and print
❤️ Understanding feelings, friendships, and social skills
🎨 Connecting the story to art, sensory play, science, music, and movement
For our younger children, simply listening, looking at the pictures, pointing, and participating in repeated words or sounds are all important steps in early learning. Older preschoolers may retell parts of the story, answer questions, make predictions, or connect the story to their own experiences.
Most importantly, we make learning fun! When a story becomes a song, a craft, a science experiment, a sensory activity, or an outdoor adventure, children are learning without even realizing it. 🌈
