Dear HMS Families and Students,

Tomorrow is the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, and we are SO excited to welcome our middle school kiddos back! 💜💛

There is just something about the start of a new school year that I LOVE and always have. A fresh start, new opportunities, and so many great things ahead! Before tomorrow morning, I wanted to share a few important reminders to help our first day go as smoothly as possible.

📚 Student Schedules
Please have your student check Skyward before tomorrow morning to make sure they have the most up-to-date schedule. As you can imagine, scheduling is a complex process, and we have had some last-minute staffing changes, leaves, student needs, and other adjustments. I cannot thank our Guidance Team enough for all of their work getting schedules ready for our students! Students can get their schedule down on a piece of paper in their notebook, if you have a printer at home, please print, and if absolutely needed, we can print a schedule for a student. Trying to be cognizant of saving paper/ trees. With the new state law, and we’ve already had this in place prior, we are a no cell phone policy school. So they won’t be able to use their cell phone to pull up their schedule.

🚗 Morning Drop-Off
Student drop-off is located in the back of the school at Door 5, the Auditorium Entrance. Students may begin entering the building at 7:15 AM.

🚲 Bikes, E-Bikes & Scooters
We do have a bike rack in the back of the school, and students are welcome to ride their bikes and lock them there during the school day. Please remember that E-bikes and motorized scooters are not permitted on school property.

🚌 Bus Riders
If your student rides the bus, please have them at their bus stop at least 10 minutes before the scheduled arrival time.This is especially important during the first few days as everyone settles into their routines.

Our goal is to make tomorrow a GREAT first day! I cannot wait to see our staff and students back together again. There is nothing quite like the energy of that first day when our building is full of kids again!

And parents, PLEASE mark your calendars! 💜
Join us on Wednesday, September 2, for our Parent/Teacher Open House. (Start time 5:30 in auditorium- unless your student is a fall athlete, then there is a meeting for parents and athletes at 4:30 in the auditorium. )

This is our opportunity to connect, build relationships, and truly partner together. Middle school is such an important time in your child's life. They are becoming teenagers... HAHAHA! We need each other! 😊
