Happy Monday, Brickies from the Start Families!
Are you or your child behind on any vaccines? Do you need to make sure your child has all their vaccine requirements before school starts?
The Lake County Health Department Mobile Clinic will be giving vaccines and be doing lead testing at Festival Park on June 24th. Please scan the QR code or call 219-755-3658 by Wed. June 17th to pre-register.

If this date doesn't work with your schedule, the LCHD will also be at the Hobart YMCA on Friday, July 10th from 10am-1 pm and Monday, July 20th 1:00-4:00 pm. Please pre-register at least one week before the clinic date.

Check out this little guy and the video of him reading to his parents! When parents ask us how to prepare their kids for school, this is how it looks. The more we read to our children right from the beginning, the more likely they will be ready to read in school. Congratulations Brady! You truly are excellent on purpose!

Did you know that talking, reading, and singing to your children is teaching? Our incredible SCOH teacher Rhiannon Leaf sure does.

At just 17 months old, Rhiannon's son Brady Leaf is already "reading" his book to Mom and Dad, and we couldn't be prouder! (Check him out in the comments!)

This tiny reader was recently presented with a Being Excellent On Purpose (BEOP) Certificate and has officially become the youngest Brickie ever to receive a BEOP Award!

This is exactly WHY early literacy matters. Long before children can decode words on a page, they are building a love of books, language, and storytelling. Every time you read with your child, or let them "read" to YOU, you are:
