πŸ“’ FRIDAY, AUG. 14, STORM RECOVERY UPDATE

We’re seeing encouraging progress across our community. Approximately 50% of residents who experienced power outages have now had their power restored. We know many are still waiting, and crews continue working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

πŸ›οΈ City Hall is Open:
City Hall is open today and staff are available to assist residents. However, we are currently without internet and our phones are off and on. Please be patient as our staff works to catch up from the last few days.

🌭 Community Center Meals:
Today is the final day of meal distribution at the Community Center. Meals will be available from 2–6 PM. We are working to put together a list of food and resources available throughout the weekend and will share any information we find.

πŸ”‹Charging & WiFi Resources:
We are awaiting the arrival of a van equipped with charging stations and Starlink WiFi access. Once it arrives and is ready for use, we will have it set up at the Community Center.

🚧 Cleanup & Restoration:
Our Public Works crews, the National Guard, and other response teams continue working throughout the city to clear roads, remove large debris and address the most significant storm damage.

🌳 Tree & Debris Pickup:
Once crews are able to move beyond opening and clearing roadways and addressing the larger areas of damage, Public Works will begin working their way through the city to pick up storm-related tree and debris piles. This will be handled much like our regular leaf pickup schedule, starting on the east end and working our way across the city. Please be patient as crews work through the recovery process.

πŸš› Garbage Collection:
Garbage collection continues to operate on the normal schedule.

πŸ’™ Thank You, Hobart:
We continue to be incredibly grateful for the way our community has come together during this difficult time. Neighbors helping neighbors, residents supporting one another, volunteers stepping up, and crews working around the clock have all made a difference. Hobart is showing what it means to be a community.

We know there is still work to do, but we are making progress. Thank you for your patience, your understanding and, most importantly, for taking care of one another as we continue to recover. πŸ’™
