On September 22, 2026, River Forest Middle School 7th and 8th grade students participated in the Crossroads Chamber of Commerce’s Your Future, Your Choice Career Experience at Taft Middle School in Crown Point. Students explored a variety of career pathways through hands-on activities in cosmetology, technology and robotics, medical imaging, court reporting, construction, skilled trades, utilities, and manufacturing.
Students also connected with local employers and industry professionals, including NIPSCO, U.S. Steel, Purdue University Northwest, Indiana University Northwest, local labor unions, and others. The experience gave students firsthand exposure to the education, training, skills, and employment opportunities available throughout Northwest Indiana while complementing RFMS’s ongoing career exploration efforts.
