The McConnell gym project is moving along. The steel structure is going up now. The portable will be demolished over Fall Break. I can't wait to see the progress on everything when we get back from the break!

Our very own Ashley Smithey was recently interviewed by the district. Mrs. Smithey is one of our MANY shining stars here at McConnell and we are so proud of her! I hope you'll take a few minutes to watch her video. You'll hear that Mrs. Smithey stays because of the relationships with students, staff, faculty and families here at McConnell.

🎃 Munchy the “Mustang Ghost” 👻 is hungry and is on the “HAUNT” for CANDY! We’re asking our McConnell families to send in bags of candy to help us build our candy supply. Every bag makes a difference!

And remember, our trunks are only asked to provide 🍬 600 pieces of candy—so your donations will help take some of the pressure off our amazing trunk volunteers!

🎃 Feed Munchy! Send in your candy donations and help make Trunk or Treat a sweet success! Thank you for helping us keep Munchy—and all of our little trick-or-treaters—happy! 👻 McConnell Elementary

Oh, and don’t forget you can sign up to decorate your trunk!

McConnell kicked off our monthly character traits in September with empathy. Empathy means trying to understand how someone else is feeling and showing them that you care. It means putting yourself in someone else’s shoes and thinking, “How would I feel if that happened to me?”

Here are our empathy award winners from each classroom. These students were chosen by their teachers for demonstrating empathy and showing others that they care.

In addition to the students who were chosen, Mrs. Condry and Mrs. Hempy were chosen by their colleagues as the faculty/staff members who exemplify empathy.

Congratulations to all of our winners! Your kindness, understanding and willingness to care about others make our school a better place!
